This was a fun read Deb about the call of the Golden Arches. We used to do the McDonald's thing sometimes for the kids birthdays, their thick shakes were yummy, but I'm going back to the 80's.
Enjoyed your poem,
Cheers

It's pretty much the 80s for me, too. My youngest just turned 31! How in the world did that much time pass so quickly?!

We can relate. It's the kids who always wanted fast food which we allowed because of the convenience. But now even the kids look down on fast food fare. It's still possible to choose wisely there, too. No soda, just the burger or chicken wraps.

Brussel's sprouts (Brussels sprouts)

I'm told McD's changed up their methods after the documentary came out that showed all their dirty little secrets but I'm still not rushing over there to grab lunch. lol. We have too many good, home-owned places here to enjoy. I'll leave the call of the Golden Arches to a younger crowd. :)
    Thanks and blessings,

That's just great. I was talking to my sister on the phone and read it to her. We had a good chuckle. Not many people write about fast food experiences.

I'm glad it made y'all laugh! Poetry is about life, right? And fast food? Well... I guess part of a past life for some of us. lol

Oh my!! I read these NaPoWriMo Contest Entry #14 poem out of order. I guess it doesn't make any difference. You're right when the kids were little, fast food some days is what was required. I rarely eat it anymore, but one in a rare moon, I'll hit a place for a cheeseburger. LOL Thank you for sharing.

My oldest boy swore off all fast food this year, including ChicFilet. I could do iwthout MORST of them but... ChicFilet and Whataburger? Hmm.. lol Of course, this same kid (now 35) did a challenge yesterday where he ran 35 miles and did 360 pushups. I got tired just thinking about it! And my bet is it's going to take a LOT MORE than giving up fast food for me to get into the shape HE'S in. lol
Thank you for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed.

I used to like McDonald's about as well as fine food. But once I saw that show about them buying diseased meat because it was cheaper, and seeing the quarter pound piece of meat that was left on the sidewalk for two weeks in the hot sun and did grow mold, I figured no more preservative burgers for me. At least not intentionally. I haven't eaten McDonald's since 2002. But I must admit, the idea sounds good from time to time. Thanks for sharing. And I apologize for my rambling. :-)

Are you kidding? You read my poetry! It's ALL rambling. lol
I never saw the documentary, just stopped going there. I'm kind of glad I didn't see it! lol. Oh, wait... I have a friend who loves the holiday pies, so we do go grab a diet breaker once in a while! lol
Blesisngs and thanks for both the reading, and the info! YUCK!

I think a couple of my grandkids sometimes have McDonalds, and I guess it's fine if only as a treat, or a special occasion, the good thing my wife and I can get a free cuppacino being for 'slightly' older citizens, well done, blessings, great post Deb, blessings Roy

Hi, Deborah. This is a lovely humorous piece with smooth meter and rhyming helping its flow. I liked the artwork too. Is that AI generated?

The apostrophe in medium seems unnecessary, especially since you haven't omitted any letters!

You are one of the few people worldwide who would add Brussels sprouts to a favourite meal!

Steve

I think you're right aobut the apostrophy... I'll probably remove it. I was worried about syllable count and wrote this a bit after midnight. Who knows what's there! lol
Hey, don't dis my Brussel's sprouts! My whole family (even most of the grandkids) enujoy them grilled or roasted in the oven. That's it - any other way is near blasphemy! :)
Thanks for reading and commenting, Steve. I appreciate both.
