What a cute tribute to your adorable granddaughter. It is nice to see her holding a real book and not a tablet or other such device. Too many kids nowadays don't read actual books.... Or often don't read at all for entertainment and only when forced to do so. They really don't know what they're missing... just adk Emily!

Helen will love that picture!! What a lovely, thoughtful thing to do, Bill! Children need to have an interest in books at an early age, it helps them so much in later years. My niece's children (One graduated college and one is a sophomore at St. Mary's of the Woods College) weren't readers. i've never seen a book in the house. How they made the grades they did, I have no idea. I think some read when they're young and don't continue. I hope your granddaughter keeps up her interest in reading. It can last a lifetime. judi

She is in accelerated classes now, as the school is well behind her level. She began reading novels (Percy Jackson, etc.) and asks for more. Her parents are both over-achievers (in a good way).
