Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. You very accurately described the eclipse and used only a few syllables to do it. Congratulations! I'm impressed. Good luck with the contest.

Nice concise poem. have been doing a lot of chores today. I am pooped. My printer is once again misbehaving. Life is one exciting nail biting thing after another:-) Karen

My printer stopped working, so I threw it in the dumpster.

I actually didn't attend any viewing of the eclipse. There were so many people talking about it leading up to the event that for some reason instead of truly anticipating it, I was more like... ho hum. Thank you for giving me a glimpse of what I missed.

I enjoyed your 5-7-5 on the eclipse. I don't know if it's quite personification, but whatever it is works. Thank you so much for sharing, and best wishes to you.

The challenge called for a 5-7-5. The different types: haiku, senryu, etc. is optional.
reply by jessizero on 09-Apr-2024
Yes, I know. I was talking about the personification of the moon and sun. Sorry if I bugged you.

Softly, silently... Okay, so that was AA Milne. I like the alliteration in this, not to speak of the repeating vowel sounds (probably not quite assonance). You need to hire a woman with a sultry voice to intone this for you.

-Nice artwork and presentation, Bill,
-The syllable count is good, along with the topic.
-Effective imagery and alliteration.
-You create a vivid word picture of the eclipse.
-A very good entry; good luck in the contest.
-Did you get a total eclipse where you were?
-We are in NJ an surprisingly, we got the
thin crescent shape as the moon covered the sun,
but we didn't get the total eclipse. It got really
chilly while the sun was covered. I remember
the last total eclipse and how cold it got
by the time it was finished.

It was a great visual and some people felt the moment deeply. My angle was unimpressive.

Nicely done! A stunning image, and a lot of pleasing alliteration in your 5-7-5, which meets all requirements and is a fine entry for the contest. Best wishes.

Bill,

This piece was cleverly constructed, met all requirements, tossed in tubs of alliteration and imagery, added a lovely image, and paid us to read. While one might think that would be satisfying, it was ... less than.

I came here looking for nonsense and something more... upside-down-ish.

On the other hand, I think this makes a wonderful entry for the contest. Good luck!

If I win a contest, it is because no one else entered.

A very poetic scientific explanation of the nature of an eclipse. Wish it could have come to our area, but it must've known I lived here. Did you get to see it? Hope this work eclipses the others in tht contest!

I watched but the effect was almost unnoticeable.

Same here. I used the computer by open blinds and seen worse on rainy days.
