I haven't seen your name pop up in my inbox for a long time. And since I hadn't been reading you regularly for long, you probably don't even remember who I am. LOL. Anyway, it's always a pleasure. I hadn't realized you lived in Deadwood. A couple years back, on Halloween, a close friend of mine killed herself on the dance floor at the casino there. She was only 28. "Blackbird singing in the dead of night." Thanks for sharing.

That's definitely one of my favorite songs and, of course, I remember you! I was gone for a while but hope to be back now more regularly. I set a crazy goal to copyright 10 songs per trimester this year. It's sort of kicking my butt. lol. I can create a song, which is different from composing because composing requires you to actually put it on paper. AUGH!!! Music theory was about 45 years ago and I've forgotten a good deal of it. :9
We don't have a casino here and I'm a bit embarrassed. We locals call our little town 'Deadwood' because not much happens here. I was unaware of a REAL Deadwood, TX! I am sorry about your friend, though. I've had it happen to one of my friends, too, and know what a difficult thing it is to get past. God makes a difference, but it's still a hard, long road.
Taks care, Ric! I hope to see you more often, both on the giving reviews and receiving reviews end of this game.
    Blessings,
    Deb

Good to see you back, Deb, and I look forward to reading more of your posts. My friend killed herself on the Casino dance floor in Deadwood, South Dakota, not Texas. LOL. I doubt there is a Deadwood, Texas. :-)

I'm not sure if there's a Deadwood here or not... Guess I ought to check. I came here from Austin and San Antonio and couldn't believe how SMALL this place is. I picked up the phone book (back when we had such things) and asked if it was just A-D, the business pages, or WHAT IN THE EVER-LOVIN' WORLD? I think of it now and have to laugh at myself. I love it here now, though, and wouldn't ever dream of moving back to the city. I guess I'm 'small town' now, too. :)

Hi Deb! Welcome back. Do you really have time to post a poem a day? I hardly have time to review.
I'm viewing on my phone and somehow the first word got broken up across two lines. But the picture is cool and he could sing to avoid blending in.

:) Hi, Helen. I don't know if I have time or not but we'll find out! Right now, I'm 3 days behind and we've just begun! Yikes! lol
I made a decision to copyright 30 of my songs this year, breaking them down into 10 songs per 4 months. My target date for the first 10 (kid's praise dsongs) is the end of April. I have 7 completed, so I think I'm good for this one. The issue is... I planned to be ahead this month so I could begin the more difficult adult praise songs before the beginning of May! ;o But it's starting to feel like work instead of love right now so I'm taking a short daily break to do something at least sort of different.
How are y'all doing? I think about you often.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Deb

Good idea to do the copyrighting. My friend used to mail her music back to herself - the poor man's patenting.

Could you use your songs as part of your Napowrimo? Two birds at once?

I think my dad used to mail his stuff to himself, too. But copyrighting 10 songs is only $80 and I'm committing to make this happen for the year. My word for 2024 is 'completion'. My phrase, as of today, is "Sarah laughed". I told a friend that I may be getting too old to do some of the things I'd like to do with the music and she said, "Sarah laughed." When I looked confused, she said, "She thought she was too old to be in God's plan, too. She laughed." So now that's my phrase. God is bigger than our doubts or fears. And, if we let Him, He'll take us past them, too.
I COULD use some of the songs in this contest, but I didn't write them this month. I'm playing catch-up with what God's given me over the past few years. So, sadly, no...
I may post them outside the contest, though. I'd love feedback on them.
    Blessings and hugs, sweet friend...
But you didn't let me know how y'all are!

Oh, yes, I forgot. The poetry has to be written this month to qualify for the Napo. Sorry. I was just thinking of other poems I read which were shared from previous years. Good that you know.
We are all good but very busy. Returning to be near family and friends from long ago and meeting new friends at church here - so a lot of socializing - making up for the lack in the previous decade...

I'm so glad that you're getting to reunite and meet new friends! That's an exciting time. We're talking about moving back to the Austin area... I'm reluctantly considering it, anyway. But I think all my old friends have evacuated the city. It's certainly grown in the last 3 decades since we left. So... I think we need to consider it a bit longer! lol
    Glad all is well.
