Hard to give away a 6 on three lines. Smile. I read your portfolio. You have the gift. By all means keep writing. One writer's advice stuck. Workers can't have worker's block or they get fired....so seat butt in chair and pick up quill. Esther

Lol. Thank you so much, Esther for taking the time to read and review: "Cat At Work" I want to thank you also for the kind words and admonition to keep writing. I believe I also caught the hint of a metaphorical six. Thanks so much!

That's pretty funny, Doc! And I think I owned that cat at one point. Or, rather, that the cat owned me. I suppose that's just a matter of perspective!
Great job on the poem - best in the contest!
Blessings,
Deb

Thanks so much Deb for your taking the time to both read and review my poem: "Cat At Work".
You are absolutely correct! It was your cat that I wrote about! I tried to disguise in hopes that it wouldn?t be recognized. (Oh Well)
Thanks for the five beautiful stars you gave me!

There was a cat who ate the rat which wasn't very fat! LOL:-)
If this is the rat, it's huge! And this poem is lots of fun.
I hope you didn't take this picture.
Good luck in the contest.

I loved this short poem about a fat cat who ate a rat. I would have gone a different way with this rifting on the fat cat image linking it to fat leaders in power

Let's face it; that's exactly why a lot of people keep cats. Funnily enough my cats would never do that, not with rats. They'd catch them, kill them, but never eat them.
All requirements for the competition were met. Well done!

This was an excellent 1-6-1 poem! I got a big kick out of it. You got the syllable count right, and you used the required rhymes, as well. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Dr. NAD, your contest entry is succinct and spot-on...The cat has done its
job and earned his keep...This particular rodent historically has been a pest of momentous destruction and health problems, however, your sparse cute mono-rhymes has put an end to this ones shenanigans! Good
luck in the contest. teafor2

The colors of this work well. Here are some thoughts on how to make the text pop a little more.
Fat comes off as a rather passive adjective at the end. I suppose it is a descriptor of the cat after eating the rat. What if you made it a bit more active:
Cat
Approaches, stalks a rat
SPLAT!
Cat
Stalks a feral hazmat
Rat
Cat
Craving a juicy rat
Stat
I docked one star because of the awkwardness in the current wording of "ate rat" (missing an article; if you prefer your piece as written perhaps a simple edit to adjust this would simply be "spotted and ate a rat"
If you make any edits, shoot me back a message so I can bump this up a star!

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing cat at work. Thank you also for the four stars. Thank you for your suggestions but I didn't find them to be vibe I was going for. There were several nuances that a number of reviewers picked up for which I was grateful. You may have caught them yourself but you didn't mention them. One example: loc-ate-d. Be blessed.

As with planets that become visible in the day only during a solar eclipse, the brilliance of that middle syllable escaped me perhaps because it was overshadowed by the actual verb ATE. However sharper minds than mine clearly caught the reference. I guess we don't say "eat A chicken" because the meat is commonplace, so maybe that's how a cat thinks about it. Anyway thanks for the gracious response.
