Demons as spiritual parasites8 total reviews

You.do know a bit about demons, yes they use the lustful emotions of the human they inhabit, they need a human host to work their wicked will through their victim, I think the Holy Spirit has withdrawn His influence. So the time is drawing near, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Thanks for the excellent review and the words of support for my poem. You got what I was trying to say. Most people today try and explain this thing away through science, but that doesn't change the ultimate result. Beware falling victim to the demons. They will suck the life out of you like any drug. estory

Hi estory, I really liked this. Your poem describes and paints such a believable picture that I could visualise it all. When evil takes hold there's nothing much that can be done. It's sad, it's tragic but that's how it is. The world is full of men these days whose been taken over by greediness, wanting power at all cost.
Thanks so much for sharing. Ulla:)))

I liked the description of 'spiritual parasites'. It fits perfectly. I enjoyed reading this poem. We need to be very careful that we don't allow the circumstances around us become those 'spiritual parasites'. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the excellent review and I think you got exactly what I was trying to get at. We get drawn into these emotional catch 22s, these traps and the demons feed on us when we allow ourselves to be used by them. If you don't recognize them, they are even more dangerous. estory

This is an excellent poem, commenting on the nature of demons. They are parasites. They crave a body that they don't have, and a home that was never for them, so parasite it is.
I have a different theological opinion than you (which is irrelevant for poetic/writing/review purposes), but I thought I would mention it. I do not believe that demons and fallen angels are the same thing. Demons are the offspring of fallen angels that have mated with humans. The nephilim of Genesis six. When they die, they are destined for the wilderness because they were not created by God and were given no soul and have no destination until the final judgment. So they wander, they thirst, they lust, and they possess. The fallen angels who committed the sin have been bound and are awaiting judgment. The demons are still wandering the Earth.
I really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing! Julie.

Thanks for your support of my piece and for sharing your perspective. I don't think its really all that different. In the end, there is this spiritual danger of falling prey to these parasites who will suck your spirit dry if they are not thrown out. estory

I totally agree with you!

I thought this was great. It was haunting and eerie! I like how you explored the themes of darkness and silence. You share a sense of unease so well! You drew me into the unsettling world depicted. Great job! This was well done!

Some great imagery here about the parasitic evil with which we can become infested. It reminds me of WB Yeats' verse The Second Coming about the end of 2000 years of Christianity and the reverse of the cycle with the "rough beast" that slouches towards Bethlehem to be born. Your free verse succinctly expresses this rather fearful prospect. Well done! Debbie

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on my piece. To be even moderately compared in the same breath with Yeats, who is one of my heroes, is a real compliment. I am familiar with that poem. It's nice to know when your writing can be so evocative for readers. I work hard on the imagery. estory

Estory, I had to read this several times: The notes; the description; minus
a picture, but title was a great clue for drawing me to your side/tone for
this indictment of these "demons" as spiritual parasites...This approach
is unique or one I personally have not entertained myself nor heard before.
Sure, we hear all the time "the devil made me do it." While that make some
sense, the "parasite" angle is uncommon, however, may have more credence/credibility when given a 2nd or 3rd look see...A possible paradigm shift for the Bible?? teafor2

Thanks for the excellent review and the interesting perspective on the piece. I began to think of demons as parasites after reading how Jesus exorcised several of them in the Bible after many years. The picture that began to form in my head was that of these demons feeding on our emotions, using our body as a habitation to get access to our spirit through our mind. It's not main stream Christianity, I guess, but I like to be wary. These things can take over in insiduous ways, through drugs, porn, alcohol, crime; even through technology like the internet. If you want to read more similar things look into the book Apocolypse or Artificial Intelligence in my portfolio. estory
