Pets can do justice when it comes to saving a life. Your poem does have a moral behind it and I like the idea of pets helping another pet in this telltale story.

Good use of alliteration the hard c's & K's create a snarling mood. This has a very good lesson to it as this is written for children and children are in the space to learn lessons and I think they especially learn them from animals. That has always been the goal in my Be Wee with Bea series that children and adults may learn lessons.

I was a teacher, so I know this would be excellent for that age level. Maybe submit it to a children's magazine. I just looked them up. There are several.
