Not one, but two recipe ideas. I love the way you incorporate a story around your cooking. Most recipes I follow have stories as well but it's not something I think about while cooking. Thanks for posting. I will for sure try your son's method of preparing ribs.

Hi John, another fun post. Today, I'm in the ribs mood. Actually, I've been thinking about ribs for a few weeks now. When/if Fridays close down, I'll know where to go knocking for some ribs.
I enjoyed the history behind Cioppino. It's amazing how a simple gesture can turn into an industry--nice. Good music choice. Another fun and yummy post. Well done. Sorry for the late review. Margaret

You write cooking stories well. I always enjoy the background story of the recipe. I love fennel. I don't have the space to make this at the moment. But I can keep the recipe for later. Karen

I like how the pursuit of one good meal (ribs) leads to another good meal )(cioppino). If nothing else, you keep my mouth watering and ideas for dinner. My mom's not much for trying anything new, but I could invite someone over. . .

It sounds absolutely delicious! I guess I had cioppino in a restaurant but never questioned the ingredients. Now I know. It's like the French bouillabaisse - whatever seafood is on hand.

Your post is just packed full of Italian magic with your wonderful seafood recipe ( I adore these ingredients), complete with interesting, historic background. I think even I can remember the name of the recipe and, right now, I'm very envious of your beautiful meal which is my kinda food! I think you were getting so excited about sitting down with that delicious dish and a glass of wine that you forgot the 'r' in you(r) soup bowl (second line from the bottom). Mangia bene! Debbie

Rrrrrrrr?.. thank you! I?m so glad you appreciated this meal and its history. I remember my mother making this type of a seafood dish so many times. And fennel, I love it raw, cooked, roasted, grilled, any which way.
Thank you so much for the six stars. I am tickled pink and honored by them.
I think it?s the middle of the night a-way over there.

Souds absolutely delicious!! I can't imagine it isn't. Thank you for sharing.
an Italian fisherman came back to port empty-handed, he would walk around the neighborhood with a pot, so the other fishermen could "chip" in whatever they could. What ever ended up in the pot became that man's cioppino. (Sounds like the children's legend 'Stone Soup'.)

I am awaiting breakfast with my daughter, and you just made me very hungry, so I'm giving you the extra star for succeeding in your writing. And for mentioning calamari, one of my favorites!

I wish I had a huge supply of them! We had a wonderful visit. The only thing missing was calamari! (She loves it, too!)

Food is definitely a fine art around your house. I think you countn't be more Italian if your lived in Italy. I loved Italy the times I visited there, and I although didn't get to eat food like you describe, your posts bring back good memories.
