Reds are my favorite wine, and a glass from one of those barrels would be amazing. What a wonderfully written poem. Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Thank you for this wonderful review

I had never heard "Dago Red" before, so your author's notes were helpful. Your poem was nice. I think you are one syllable short on that second line, but that could be a matter of dialect. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

You are so right. Thank you, I have changed. I wish more reviewers would point errors out.

This one says more in just three lines. Beautifully crafted and illustrated in short verse poetry. Sending you my best today as always, and my very best wishes for the upcoming contest.

A beautiful entry for the 5-7-5 poetry contest. Your words conjure up visuals, scent and taste. I love the picture you chose and the background color used. Very nice work. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you, Dolly. Was your husband Italian? Those smells never leave you, nor the love and time put into the effort of making wine.

No, he was English x

Thanks, Dolly. You're a sweetheart

Your 5-7-5 does a wonderful job of capturing nostalgia. The imagery of barrels fermenting wine in a musty basement evokes is wonderful. I love the phrase "my heart remembers". Perfect. Well done!

Thank you, "nostalgia" was exactly what I was after. I have never forgotten those scents or the time and effort wine making takes. Truly a labor of love.
