Hi Val,
This can be true. I think a way to lessen feelings of guilt or remorse is to learn to forgive yourself or ask for forgiveness.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Congratulations on placing second in the contest.
Hope your having a great day.
Joan

One needs to know where the bottom is to see the way back up, I think this is a great sign of the times, but when one ist at the bottom there is only one way one can go. Well done Val, good luck, blessings Roy

I think you are right. We have to forgive ourselves and others, as difficult as it may be. You got your syllable count right, too. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

So much truth in this 2-4-2 poem Val. Remorse means looking backward and that has relentless power over us. You have an excellent way to put so much meaning in just a few words. Well done my friend.

My husband continues to heal but it seems that there is a new wrinkle to deal with everyday. We have moved from heart issues to kidney issues but still making progress. God is good.

Take care and I hope you are doing well.
Blessings
Janet

JanIet, I am forever grateful for your presence on Fanstory. I had you in mind, when I wrote this as I have seen you so gracefully manage life. You are a strong woman, and it shows in your writing. I am sorry your husband's recovery is not perfect, but he is in such capable hands. Being elderly (a kind word for old), as I am it takes so much strength to deal with adversity. I love the 6 stars, but love your kind attention more. Keep me posted. Hugs Val I just started writing again - slow and mindful. I only want to write what I feel, not what someone wants me to feel anymore.

You are too kind my friend. I am so pleased that you are writing again. Your words always connect with me. Often on many levels.
I have struggled for many years with a broken relationship and the remorse for my part in all of it.
I appreciate your ethics of writing what you feel and it comes through in your work.
Hugs back to you Val. Look forward to your next offering. I?m working on a story in a poem about my grandson who survived a stroke at age 23. Hope to post it soon but between doctor?s appointments and daily living - I?m a little behind.
    Blessings and more hugs
    Janet

Forgiving oneself for decisions made which may not have been in the best interest of those involved can be difficult. It's not always easy.

Your four words spoke a lot of truths to help guide one through.

Best of luck in the competition.
John

This is very well said, yes, regrets always come back to haunt us, decisions we know we should not have made, or something we never said or tried, very well presented, best wishes for your contest****kahpot

This 2-4-2, Remorse Consumes Love, has the proper formatting and lends to the notion that it takes a dozen diamond jubilees to overcome one bad decision.
