Hello Tony,
You've succeeded in transforming Ayesha, giving her more confidence, and a growing sense of her new position as a wealth woman. I doubt Johnno will be so easily pushed aside, but we'll see what develops. And Mr Suttle will likely
cut in as the senior partner too. But Mr Kraft appears to be a trustworthy person.
With the amount of money involved and the history Johnson and Suttle, Ayesha may need influential help.
I like the interplay with Johnno, his condescending attitude and view of woman. Great response from Ayesha about the flock/herd description.
It's hard enough for pigs to fly, an elephant would be a tremendous feat.
Another outstanding chapter.

Some so called animal rescues are worse than what the critters are otherwise enduring. Sounds like Lek Chailert at least cared somewhat for the elephant.
"white swan on a tranquil lake" - a good depiction of the Opera House.
Barbecue chicken and marine diesel. Two distinct aromas that show the smells she encounters.
"pretty little head" - a stereotypical show of Junno's condescending attitude towards women. Would be enough to leave him high and dry and move my accounts elsewhere. Glad to see she did just that, too.
"I don't give a damn" reminds of a direct quote from Gone With The Wind. Seems Rhett Butler said those very words to Scarlett O'Hara.

I wonder if we've really seen the end of Johnno and thus the whole drug-world element of the story, or if there's still life in that. I guess I'll just have to wait and see!

Many thanks both for the review and for the extra star, Steve. I'm in virgin territory now. I wrote most of the story about ten years ago, before I joined FS, but put it to one side and forgot about it. All I've been doing recently has been heavy rewriting and editing. However, I'm beginning to think it might have the legs for a full-length novel - though I'm not so sure I have.

Ah, that's interesting. In the meantime you've done at least two other novel length books, haven't you. So re-visiting this one would have been like peeking into a ten-year old photo.
I was recently reading a very early Nevil Shute novel (So Disdained) and I remember thinking Wow, this is really nowhere near as good as his later books!
Just thinking how writers mature and develop over their careers.

Thanks again, Sandra. No rhinos in Thailand these days. Although they used to roam throughout SE Asia at one time, they are now confined to a couple of islands in Indonesia. Sadly, Asian elephants seem to be heading the same way. Some statistics suggest that their population has halved in the past forty years.

Ayesha is getting smarter all the time! And although it wasn't that film that I saw, it was about the same woman whose life passion is to provide a sanctuary for elephants. The one we watched was the Elephant Whisperer. I'm glad that Ayesha knows how not to be controlled by the financial bigwigs and found a kindred sprit to help set up the trust!

I've read about The Elephant Whisperer but haven't seen it. I understand it's set in India, whereas Love and Bananas takes place in Thailand and Cambodia.
Let's hope Ayesha is able to follow her dream.

Ah. Wendy perhaps suggested that one. But our Amazon Prime search led us to the Thai Elephant Whisperer which covers Lek's mission. Hence my confusion. She's an amazing lady!

I hope she hasn't put herself in danger. Is Johnno going to let go of the money that easily? He seems the sort who would be willing to make someone disappear. But I do like what Ayesha is planning to do with her money.

Ayesha is proving her resourcefulness again in managing her newly acquired wealth that will no doubt go for good, much to the chagrin of Johnno. I truly enjoyed the flock of elephants, so elephants in abundance shall be flocks henceforth.
