Hmph... I wonder if we all have a "cottonwoods shade"?

This is a lovely love poem for two special people sharing an intimate moment that hopefully lasts forever.

Well done, Willie.

A beautiful and idyllic scene painted by your well chosen words! Young love remembered - with such sweetness - is the perfect theme for your story in a poem. Well done!

This was a nice poem. The picture is lovely. The matting is well chosen. The font is a tad frilly requiring squinting occasionally. Since this is for a contest you might want to change it. Good writing. Karen

What a delightful poem. I agree with your comment on rhyme, otherwise they are a story. I will remember that line. And, probably use it.
The picture, along with your words left this reader most satisfied after reading this. Thank you.

Beautiful!
Brought back old memories when love was new and a day in the country, alone and away from the city noise, was a very special treat. Thank you for sharing.
Smiles, Carol

This poem harbors a lot of visual depictions. Through its simplicity it brings forth the basic idea of old-fashioned love (which to an extent also exists today especially in rural areas), making it something like a Cinderella story. I particularly like the mention of the quilt which makes the poem touchable, becoming a part of the reader's senses.

Thanks for sharing.

This is a charming piece, simple, nostalgic and slightly melancholy with the memory of a lovely place that no longer exists. I'll have to look up cottonwood trees. I doubt if we have them. Well presented, as well as affectionately written.

I really liked the repetition you used to emphasize certain phrases. Your poem was lovely, and you chose your words well. Your story in a poem was a great entry for the contest. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.
