Hi B&S,
I like the mix of end and internal rhyme in this abab rhyming poem using music as a strong extended metaphor for the way sin hounds us. I hope the the speaker's depression wanes and his/her prayers are answered.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

This is a thought-provoking poem. Imagining the devil grinning while playing the mandolin is quite the picture! Also this has a very interesting point of view... someone trying to dig themselves out of hell. I assume that it has a metaphorical meaning of digging oneself out of a deep place they've gone to.
