This is a beautiful well thought out work. One can certainly find peace and solitude in the woods. Unlike the oceans, the woods are quiet and peaceful, where you can hear winds sounding their way through the trees. You did a great job of capturing the feeling of solitude one finds in the woods. I can't think of anything you could have done better.

Hello, Mystery Writer,
You have captured the essence of my own walks in my own "wintry woods" here in northern Michigan.
I live on a plot of land surrounded by hardwoods and pines. Thus, this stanza truly resonated with me:
Today, I will watch
as the wind directs the sway
of trees, waving and weaving
through shadows of shade
and speckled sunlight.
Beautiful imagery.
Best wishes!

Excellent poem. I like the trees as they gently sway as you walk your unbeaten path. There's never a path that is truly formed unless it has been trodden by several feet, repeatedly.

Yes, the blessedness of solitude appreciated here affording the reader a flavor of what it feels like to step into that space, especially in the wintry season of the year.

Your poem includes everything I love in a poem, imagery, sensory words, some personification of nature. I was involved through my reading and, this brought me back to memories as a teen, when I would walk or sit in a county park directly across the street from my house, not the entrance but the park. The trees were just like this photo. I love trees so it was always like being surrounded by friends. Excellent writing and presentation!
Best wishes,
Alex

I'm not a fan of cold weather, but your poem made me want to bundle up and walk through the woods near my house. I do love to walk them when it's summer and fall. But I could visualize the trail while reading. This was absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Gretchen

This is a trulu beautiful poem on solitude. I especially loved this stanza--
Today, I shall listen
to whispers
not meant to be deciphered
and shoulder my solitude
one final time
walking off
this unwanted woe.
Solitude to me in a nutshell, I think. Marvelous poem. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest.

Beautiful - an extremely lovely poem where the reader feels, and sees, and hears as the writer intended. The solitude, with its perfect blend of peace and comfort, is an antidote to that "unwanted woe". Best wishes for your superb entry.

There is a certain understanding when one's humanity blends with the natura, which really are one and the same, I can remember the first time I really saw a sunset for the first time. I took photos them all around the world, well done, blessings Roy
