She is full of spunk. I will keep reading. I am thinking about writing a contest called" Let's kill Karen" you can kill me with kindness, roll me over with a steam roller, have me fighting with my support hose and tumbling down the stairs, but it must make me laugh.
I have mentioned it to others and they said they would be happy to kill me. Is that a bad thing?

I wonder if it's all innocent. Is he there with the Dr's blessing? He must have his permission to have got the key to enter. But my child brain is very inquisitive, just like Heddi's. Lol. This story is a great mystery story and I'm going straight to the next chapter!! :)) Sandra xx

The house may not have been locked at all. Who knows. When I first moved to the outer banks in the mid nineties, people laughed because I locked my doors and my car. I imagine things were even less rigid in the forties. Now, of course, everyone locks their doors. Thank you so much, again. Gretchen

Oh, life was so simple in those early days. Meeting giants, keeping secrets, and genuinely loving life. What a wonderfully written chapter. Best of luck with your writing!

Have a great day, and God bless.

Hi Gretchen. Trying to get caught up on all the posts in my inbox.

Good chapter with Heddy spying and getting caught by the copper head man, Artie. He seems friendly but I don't know why he wanted Heddy to keep him a secret. I guess we'll find out sooner or later.

I think I have another chapter to read...

Thank you, John. It sounds like he might not belong there. Hiding out. Hopefully, not dangerous. Gretchen

Hmmm. I must've missed a chapter and will have to go back. But this one is so well done and intriguing, I WANT to!! You have the best knack for making characters that burrow into our hearts. Your writing reminds me a lot of Barbara Kingsolver's. Have you ever read her? She's one of my all-time faves. xoxo

Hello Gretchen,
this is worthy of a six, but I just awarded it to someone else. I love the way you describe the scenes and the characters. I feel like I'm watching a good movie. Well done gal.
Have a blessed day.
Tom

I thought this was going to be the chapter where I found out for sure what Artie was doing in Dr. Monroe's house. But you've left me wondering if he's supposed to be there or not. LOL. Great job! Thanks for sharing.

I love the characters you create, and I feel I know you better because of them, your characters are really a ghosting of people you've met or read about, or even, God forbid, those that you've heard about, you have a godly perception which broadens your outlook, and forgiving nature, well done, blessings Roy

Wonderful story about Heddy and Artie giant. You have a beautiful imagination. Great chapter for the book Saltwater Ghosts. I love stories about giants and ghosts. Artie sounds like a gentle giant. Heddy is a precocious kid.

I look forward to reading the next chapter.

Thank you so much for this. Artie isn't a real giant. Just taller than her father. Heddy knows no strangers. I Thank you for the six. Gretchen
