If truth is told, I think you'd find out there have been many more cases of cousins kissing. But unlike you, I'm not sharing any details of my own adventures. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, a lot of people are admitting to it. I guess I share too much. The little I tell sometime freaks my kids out. Mom isn't supposed to have ever kissed anyone but dad. lol Roosevelt and Mamie and Jerry lee and his cousin were first cousins who got married.

Yes, sometimes things just seem too right to be wrong. First cousins might be a little too close, but other than that, I'd say whatever makes a person happy. :-)

Those were the days! Beth, this story is as old as time and as fresh, new and innocent as all those new hormones awakening within our young bodies!

While I didn't experience this, I remember well the sweet summer my older brother and our cousin Sylvia connected in an entirely new way over a family reunion picnic!

It had been a few years, they were both young teens and you would have had to be on Mars not to see the subtle flirtation... the hand-holding... A dance or two with a different kind of closeness!

When they announced the first night they were going to pass on the reunion fun and go to the drive win I felt the family part like the Red Sea!

My dad was the wisest. "Leave them be" -- He said.

"They're just young teens finding their way."

And so it was! The briefest of romance that, like a summer storm, blew in hot and simmered down in a matter of days.

What a well-told story you've shared!
Thanks for the fun memories!

Karenina, when I realized someone had given me that 26th review right after this story stopped being active, I just knew it had to be you. You are awesome.. You should be called the All Time Great Fairy. I love you in depth coverage of my little story. Not only that you gave me six stars. No wonder everyone loves you. Thank you so much.

Oh, I have a little circle of haters...

    (You can't please everyone!)

Of COURSE I rushed over as soon as I knew you needed one more review!

(I'd have gotten there anyway, but I put a rush on it, because I love your work so!)

Dang, I need another six. Beth, this is a wonderful story of coming of age. You and Dave were certainly not the first cousins to be interested in each other. Your story is written very well with honesty that works. Outstanding! Terry.

Aw, Beth, this is such a lovely true story. I could just imagine it, and the relationship with your cousin helped you into that very difficult territory which is love. All the best of luck. Ulla:)))

This makes me think of a song that Grace VanderWaal sings called Just Kids. I can't give you the link but it's on YouTube. This episode describes many familiar scenarios to many, in the cautionary tale: "We soon realized our emotions were involved, and it was starting to feel like we were falling in love in a romantic way. It had to be our secret." This is a good vulnerable account of growing pains.
thank you for sharing this.

You've told this story of young love with great sensitivity. I think we all remember our first love most clearly. Nicely written.

He was slightly younger than (me), but I adored him

Well done.
You bet your booties Dave remembers!
My older brother, younger sister, and I matched with second cousins (two girls and a boy). We had a time for a few days one summer! Hah!
Best wishes.

It seems I'm not alone in my summer indescretion. A lot of people have appreciate things about their cousins that make them interesting. Thanks for a great review.

I enjoyed reading this real-life story of young innocence. It doesn't take long for young teens to realize the attraction of the opposite sex. Both you and your cousin had a harmless summer fling that set you both on the path to eventual adulthood. This is a beautiful story. Best wishes in the contest.

I had to smile at the idea of literal "kissing cousins". In a way, your relationship to Dave shows us how in the olden times, people did grow up with the one they eventually married like Abraham and Sarah in the Bible. In their case, they had a father in common so even more taboo!
Well told and best wishes in the contest!

My aunt's gentlemen friend (I wonder if it should be "gentleman" since it's only one?)

Thank you for this and for the six stars. Dave's sister Jeanine had actually married he dads first cousin. They didn' even know each other existed until they met when he got out of service, I don't think anyone wanted to risk that happening again.

This is a great story and a perfect contest entry! I have a feelin it will do really well in the contest. Teenage angst and teenage love are part of growing up. Sounds to me as if you and your cousin put the experience to the best possible use. Characters well developed and the story has a nice flow. Good luck. ann
