Oh, wow! This was EXCELLENT! I thoroughly enjoyed the read! Thank you. Very suspenseful, and you did not rush the plot (or drag it, either.) Perfect pace. You gave us time for "it" to settle in and then watch the horror unfold before our eyes. I especially liked the way the story made a perfect circle, including all the dialog.
I have to share that it reminded me of something that happened in my town when I was just a child. My mother's favorite friend had been given the fur coat she wanted on Christmas Eve, by her husband. Exactly one year later, to the day, she died of a cerebral hemorrhage. The husband sold the coat to the man who also bought his business from him (a soda shop/luncheonette in town) and that man gave it to his wife on Christmas Eve, and a year to the day later, SHE died of a cerebral hemorrhage. (My mother's friend was in her forties and had never been sick. The woman who received the coat next was in her TWENTIES and had never been sick! Supposedly, her husband's first order of business, after the funeral, was to burn the coat.) I hadn't thought of that in decades until I read this riveting story of yours! Great work. xo

Holey moley! I love this story so much. It's so tragic, but so karmic. And very well told. I don't think I saw any typos, because if there were any, I was too engrossed in the tale to notice. I wonder why it placed second.

Is this metaphorical foreshadowing: "I'm sorry," Rick said. "They're just not right." The plot thickens: "As the days passed, the couple started finding more and more things out of place around the house, and Megan's gown, veil, and shoes were out again in the guest room." This is excellent. You re definitely a good writer. A+

This is so clever! I really like the way you foreshadowed something shady about the ring, traced the slow evolution of the curse and left us watching another man about to enter into the same madness. This would make an awesome movie!
