Fun and interesting read... We moved from California to Austin, Texas to be nearer our daughter and her family... After 10 years we moved to Costa Blanca, Spain, where we are now 3 1/2 years!!! and loving it... We too love to travel and meet new people all over the world... We call it the Bob and Lisa adventure...

When I saw the title of your story, I had to read it, as I've lived in St. Augustine for 8 years.
The Columbia Restaurant - I'm glad you enjoyed it, but I think it's one of the worst in the City. Crowded, touristy, and really bad food. That's been my experience.
Our City gets pretty busy this time of year because of Nights of Lights. I run on Saturday mornings with friends downtown; we run at 6:00 a.m. when it's still dark and all the lights are still on, so we get to see it each year without the chaos:-) Most locals stay away from downtown until after January 1, when the tourists leave and we have the streets (and parking places!) to ourselves again.
I'm so glad to hear that you visited this beautiful, historic place and enjoyed yourself. There isn't a time that I go downtown that I don't pinch myself and say, "You are so lucky that you get to live here."

I'm always fascinated and curious in Vermont with what a snowless Christmas is like. Well, this year, we've had about 3 inches all tolled this winter. Good thing Santa flies. What a great opportunity to see &understand the history of the city: "The driver was very knowledgeable about the history of the city." this certainly is a different tradition: "We rode a shuttle through America's oldest city and threw fake reindeer antlers to the children lining the street." This was as I suspected, well told & fascinating.
