Your husband's strategy and your timely use of it seems to have connected the two of you are the brain, as you can see how your actions and intensions are being sent.

I once was betrayed by a close friend, it hit very hard, but although what he did was terrible, it caused me to self examine, but my lack of self liking came into question, so that was a hard one, I still struggle with that, my mother, when she lost her temper would say awful thingscto me as a youngster, and things stem from that, do I know God loves? oh yes, one of the steps, is loving one's self, the rest should be easy...or not. Heh heh, well done, I never thought of that, but I did ask God to show me how others thought of me, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Your entry, for the contest is absolutely wonderful. I had not read it before the voting took place but I am so glad that you wrote it. He let us know that we need to have our priorities in order as we get older. I will soon be 86 years of age and I am satisfied with the way. My life is turned out. a great part of the satisfaction of my life has been that I have been able to do some writing and do some other things that have left a nice legacy for my children and having a nice legacy was important to me. Patricia.

I was always taught that when we reach our goal, to create a new one. We should always challenge ourselves. Find new things to do. Pick up the threads of an old goal not reached. To always strive to be the best person we can be. When we get too satisfied, we quit. We stagnate, So, keep reaching, and keep writing. Karen

Hi Ann, I read this last week and already decided that you would get my vote. It was a splendid post and a great way of looking at your life. It doesn't show a negative view of things, but realistic and shows that you are an open book as far as your feelings go. I was very impressed and know you will do well. So I just gave you your second vote, and I can only guess where the first one came from. LOL.
Best of luck Ann, yet I doubt that you will need it, dear friend. Debi

This work has reached the exceptional level

Reaching a goal that we could be satisfied with might be questionable, in any category. If we could forgive more, I think life would be better; it is good to forgive but to forget is not always easy.

That's why we need Jesus in our life. He's a wonderful teacher. Asking the question, what would Jesus do, perhaps brings an answer that wouldn't always be agreeable, but He knows better.

Oh, Ann, I looked for a six stars in vain - it's certainly worth all of that. This is a journey to wisdom; your late husband is an inspiration to us all - not only for the thoughtful assessment, but also for committing it all to the flames. That is like a prayer of repentance and an act of commitment rolled into one.
The fact that you gained so much from that time of reflection points up the sense of it all. And to be satisfied that we know our dissatisfactions and will, with God's help, learn to live with them - that is a good place to be, or as you say, 'a work in progress.' God likes honesty.
Paul

I enjoyed your examples given from your late hubby to a short poem by Robert Burns. You have forgiven yourself fully for any of your blunders in life ; but perhaps they were too few. While others are drowning in mistakes you have made yourself clear.

Well said.

I love this sentiment and the practice of checking yourself. Some good things to think about and very well written. I'm glad that you came across my review queue tonight. Being satisfied is indeed a choice and the people who make this choice seem to have an easier time navigating life than those who choose to always need more.
...or something like that.! Great work.
