Emma's so quick to jump to conclusions. Maybe she'll grow up a bit after her experience with her stalker. When she saw him greet his sister, she immediately decided it must be a girlfriend. Mickey Casey was really a case. Sounds like he was on his way to becoming a serial killer. From everything I've seen on TV, guys like him do collect their trophies. He waited a long time to get to Emma, but he probably got his jollies just by planning. It was disgusting that he had all those photos. Counseling sounds like a good idea For Emma, and she's accepting. Many times victims don't want it. Great development in this chapter. I like how you presented Emma comes to terms with what happened with Casey. judi

Emma is new to relationships and doesn't think a person like Seth would be serious about her. Casey was a serial killer, and many use a timeline from beginning to end. Thank you for the kind review.

I am enjoying this story very much, Barbara. It flows well and I like that the emotions are easily understandable in connection with what is happening.

In your authors notes, there appears to be a word missing in this sentence:

When a man has genuine feelings for a woman, making love to his not the first thing on his mind."

Hi Barbara, So Emma almost became another victim to all his crimes. I'm sure glad, he didn't succeed. No wonder she's rattled. And she's also a bit jealous, isn't she? Not trusting Seth all that much. Poor girl she needs some self confidence. Ulla:)))

Yes, her problem is lack of self-confidence. Thank you for the kind review.

Wow! You must have researched rapists pretty, I believe rape isn't sexual it's more about manic control and violence, which is interesting, I know some males are hard to stop if aroused, but it speaks of horror, my girls, and now my granddaughter have always had my protective concern for them. Well done Barbara, blessings Roy

Wow! That would be shocking to know how close you came to be a murder victim and that the would be murderer was in the house with you and took nude photographs. I laughed when Emma as so jealous of his sister. I would imagine she would need therapy Nicely written.

Very good job, Barb. This post is filled with items that has the reader's full attention. The reader is still anxious to get Emma and Seth together.

An easy read with great pace and flow. Very good dialogue
tags. Your dialogue moves this chapter a long, but you seemed to rush it. (I understand. It's the end of some hard work on your part.)
A great job. Thank you and good luck.

I agree with that thought. As a matter of fact, there is a distinct difference between making love and having sex. It should be obvious that making love is an intimate occasion between two people who are in love. The other is just a physical act where love is not really a part of the event. I am well pleased that Emma is finally gaining some closure where her stalker in concerned. I am also pleased that she noe knows and is beginning to understand that her feelings for Seth is more than just a fond friendship.

Hmm, I know I've spoken about this. You have good writing form and editing and structure. But Emma... I think you may want to focus on character growth. Emma is too 'Snow white', and everyone seems to treat her as a child. The stalker is too much, too deep, and seem unnecessary at this point. All of this will only lead a reader to wonder why Emma? (besides her always being a victim) And how, all those things, that 'until now' when unseen, and unknown. At this point it makes no difference to the story. The stalker was never a 'real' character, just a sometimes plot device. What I mean is, all this exposition now, is only adding unneeded holes.

notes:

He left immaculate notes and photographs on how and where he stalked them. He took four trophies from each victim and detailed the time and places he raped and murdered them. Finally, he left maps where he buried their bodies."

-How convenient.

Thank you for the kind review. It does happen, maybe you don't believe it, but it does.

I know. I'm mostly cautioning about the number of things that 'just' happen to Emma in a very short time.
reply by the author on 10-Dec-2023
That part is very true. A lot has happened, but it is fiction and I can't draw it out forever because the novel would never end. To be honest, I have a friend, who's 76 years old and in the past 6 weeks horrible things have happened to her, one right after another. It doesn't seem possible that it has, but I've been by her side through it. It really has. I know my mom says bad things happen in 3's, so maybe there's something to it.

My mom used to say the same thing. I understand.

My word, Barbara, poor Emma! First she discovers she's adopted, next she learns that her stalker, Mickey Casey, had actually been in her home a few times and taken some dreadful photos. Not only that, had she not killed him, she would probably be dead. It's good that the other girls' parents will at least get some closure. Even then, I'd hate to learn my child had been raped and murdered. How do you get something like that out of your mind? Excellent chapter, my friend. Well done! :)) Sandra xx
