What a creepy chapter; I can't imagine finding out that someone was that close to me, always watching and waiting for a turn to harm me and those around me.

Thanks for sharing a suspenseful chapter; it seems to have brought Seth and Emma even closer.

It's scary that he has been stalking her all those years and she had no idea. I guess that's what stalkers do. They're good at hiding. You've done a great job leading us through this mystery. Emma is so insecure every move that Seth makes, she interprets it has something wrong.

Yes, so many times in life we all have a tendency to jump to conclusions before giving things a chance to play out. But seeing that person we care about hugging and kissing someone else brings out our snap reactions. Thanks for sharing.

It sure does, especially when you're not positive where you stand with that person. Thank you for the kind review.

Okay, this one deserves a seven star. Nah, an eight. Very creepy and very accurate on the mentality of the serial killer.

They seem to love trophies and most are more meticulous than people realize. Very few are impulse killers. Many keep detailed notebooks on potential victims.

Great job!

I really appreciate this review. A reviewer questioned the serial killer keeping records. I knew I was correct, but there's always an element of doubt when questioned. Maybe it's just me. THANK YOU!!!

Oh goodness. Have them check out John Wayne Gacy. He had journal after journal on potential victims. Dahmer kept charts and graphs. At the very least, most keep clipping of the articles about themselves. Yeah. Very common. I bet I know who questioned you. Someone hit me up about Coy in my story Just Desserts. (My first open contest win by the way!) Said serial killers weren?t smart enough to know they have control issues. I sent her IQ s on several Mensa level IQ serial killers. Too funny telling that to a guy who has arrested two serial killers in his career. One wicked smart and one delightfully stupid.

Sorry, rambling. You are on the right path!

Another excellent chapter Barbara. I liked that Emma seems to get on well at the moment with Seth's sister. I could feel Emma's anguish towards the end of the piece as she learned new details from the Pastor. Another well told piece. I enjoyed reading it.

Stalking is awful and disturbing and more is the news that Emma was the only to live.
Emma is quick to jump to conclusion. I hope the counselling will help her a lot.
A fine chapter ..

A fine chapter. Emma will need to slow down with her quick judgments as a few times she has misinterpreted things. But that is quite traumatic to have been stalked by a serial killer for quite a while. She'll be a bit nervous and anxious for a while, even though he's dead. Well written.

This is very scary that the killer had watched her for a long time, although I believe it was less than a year, wasn't it? He must have been unusually careful as he got away with other killings.

I'm waiting to see what's going to happen with Emma. The Peggy chick needs to hit the road. Chicks who hit on another chick's interest is not very cool. I'm interested to see what happens with Seth and Emma. Who knows what tricks? You've got your up your sleeve? It's a fine piece of writing and you are definitely talented. There's no way a person could doubt if you're writing perfectly and grammatically. Great up you have an awesome evening!

Thank you for the encouragement. I make mistakes all the time. That's why I post here, so people can help. I also use three editors before I publish. I learn a lot from them.
reply by Lea Tonin1 on 11-Dec-2023
Three editors? Like people editors are editors or program editors? Sorry...curious. thx!
reply by the author on 11-Dec-2023
People editors. I use three to make sure when I publish it's the best product it can be. Unfortunately, there will always still be tiny errors.

Oh I see, i understand wow editors are not cheap eh. I was looking around so I'm trying to learn but I do have a couple of friends that were good at it. I'll see how it goes. Thank you so much. I hope you have a great day!

My first editor is a friend, who used to teach with me. Her payment is only the free novel when it comes out. My next editor cost about $400. She has an English degree from a university. My next editor runs about $900, she's a professional. Then my publisher has his own editors. So I guess, there are really four editors. Each one finds mistakes.

Wow. That revelation about Casey was quite startling and disturbing. Even if he didn't physical get to her, the stalking was awful. It can definitely change how your live. Excellent chapter here, Barbara. It's funny how different Emma and Abbey are. Same approximate age, but one fresh out of college and the other a married mother of two. I really enjoyed this.
