This is haunting. The title is odd though. Can you tell me why you chose it? The writing is very clear and thought out. Your delivery is spot on. Good Work.

Thank you Karen, I appreciate your feedback :)

Back in the day, Drovers used to ?drove? (or herd) sheep by horseback over long distances to move them to where there?s more food and water. Nowadays, that could involve moving them on the one property - depending how expansive it is - or needing to sell them off and move them to market when there just isn?t any food available.

As I read this, I found myself thinking of the terrible drought in the U.S. Dust Bowl tht claimed many victims, humans and their livestock. I count myself very fortunate to have lived in a time and area where I was not exposed to such harsh conditions.

Often the romantic side of the land calls me home, and I can so easily forget the reality of it. I'm pleased you were still able to connect with it in a way that brought meaning for you!

How interesting. My father who has passed at 99+, grew up in his Greek Island of Milos, where they also had sheep. Hi birthday is tomorrow and your post has me thinking of him and how he grew up, too. I wish your land could be as it was and I pray you'll be able to see the best of it, again.

Best wishes,

Alex
