Well there definitely needs to be a sequel now, Katharine! I always love your humorous and original stories. The dialogue is perfect and this is of course a very seasonal nod to the season of Halloween. Great fun! Thanks for sharing. Debbie

Hi Katharine,
This is so cool! Loved it! You've got a great imagination... a ghost, Tex, ex-ranger, having a conversation with some other ranger who hasn't quite cashed in his ticket. I'm assuming you're talking about the Mexicans trying to get into the USA. And your two ghost rangers are going to go down there and scare those poor rascals to death! A helping hand for the border patrol, eh?
I especially like the image you create here,
"Okay. Well, I got another idea. You got your spurs on. I got mine. What if soon as you conk, we go down there on Halloween and scare them illegals. They'll hear us jinglin', but they can't see us. Hey! We can moan, can't we?" ......... ( I can just picture this near-death ranger, laying in a hospital bed, with his cowboy boots and spurs on... sticking out of the sheets!)
And I can also picture them getting ready to hightail it down to the border to scare of those poor unfortunates with moans and groans, and jingle-jangle spurs!
"Okay. It's been a minute. Come on. Let's go down to the border and moan and jingle.

It ain't Halloween yet.

Close enough. Oh, boy, here we go!

Moan, moan, jingle jingle, ahhhhhhh, ohhhhhhh, jingle jingle jingle! Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"

That's so neat! Really, you should have entered this one in the Halloween story contest. Very entertaining, my dear!
Hugs,
Kimbob

thanks, I've got a sequel for the Halloween poetry. Thank you for reading! and especially for the lovely 6. I really appreciate it.
I would like to clear up one thing, please, because it is very important. It's not poor Mexicans at our border, there have been members of the CCP, drug cartels are here now as well as child traffickers, Hamas terrorists - there have been over 9 million illegals from all over the world who are now in this country, and a lot of them are here in my city, and it's a scary thing. I have a gun in the drawer by my bed, in case they break into my house.
I am not opening my door to Halloweeners this year as I live alone and it's not safe. A sad situation and a dangerous one.
reply by Father Flaps on 27-Oct-2023
Yes, Katharine, I figured that. These "illegals" are entering the states with the poor Mexicans who only want to make a decent living. I don't blame you for keeping your doors locked this Halloween. Are you able to move to another spot in the United States? It's not good to live in fear. Be safe!
    Hugs,

Well the poor Mexicans can come in legally, then. The Mexican illegals are being given, by Biden, cell phones, money (from our taxes!!!),the right to vote so there will never be a chance for conservatives to have any say in anything, like now, unless we do something about it. We just got a new Speaker of the House, so maybe some things will change for the better. But Biden has turned New York and Chicago into "vagrant cities" and put them up into posh hotels, which they have trashed. And California is a disaster, BUT, all these places voted to defund the police. What's ironic is the fact that they are sanctuary cities, but don't want the illegals being sent there.
No, this is my home. I just live "in caution", really, but there is word out that we will start having terror attacks from within, which is not reassuring. I do thank you for your kind concern!

There are a lot of problems in the world right now, it seems. Your southern border, the war in Ukraine, the conflict in Gaza, the homeless situation in our countries with winter right around the corner, interest rates, the high cost of gas and groceries and real estate, climate change, and Covid ... just for a start. The list could go on and on. Times are getting scary, I must admit.

that's true. How is life in Canada?
reply by Father Flaps on 27-Oct-2023
Well, a lot of people don't seem to like Justin Trudeau, our Prime Minister.
The cost of gas & groceries is making things difficult for a lot of people. The cost of homes has doubled in the last 8 years. And there aren't enough affordable apartments.
You know what a big part of the problem is? ... GREED! That's what is causing a lot of trouble.
There were a lot of forest fires in British Columbia this past summer. We had to bring forest fire fighters from all over the world to help out.
I think most countries have problems. There just seems to be more than usual this year.

Well live or dead or in between, I wish someone would go down there and make a difference down there. I sure would hate to live in Texas or anywhere near it.

Hilarious story, as it has so much relevance to current events and being so close to Halloween, gave a little spook with our laugh and a little jab to the politicians. Precisely our VP who I thought was in charge of that. I think she maybe heard the jingles when they were coming as she's a little spooky herself, and the same as nonexistent and dead weight where the border is concerned.

Well your sister was wrong this time as you most certainly finished this one with a chuckle. I loved how as the one guy gets closer to death, the font changed colors and now he is all excited as he is scaring the Arab guy off. Please tell me if I am getting any of this wrong. I am usually not one for horror or spooky stuff but am trying to broaden my horizon.
Great job on this, Katharine. It really was funny!

thank you so much, Debi. I don't know how you have time to read people's stuff with all the birthdays you do.
The change of color in the type is the almost dead ranger that Tex was talking to, answering him. It's supposed to be the two of them talking. This was more silly than spooky, really, and I'm glad you thought it was funny!!! :) Thanks again for reading it.

Okay, this is funny. Hopefully, once we pass, we retain our sense of humor and can still joke around.

This was in the end of the story?:

Musaeada - Arab for help!
(Needs to be deleted.)

Fun read.

no, they were part of the illegals hollering "Help." some CCP members were sneaking in, too, but I couldn't get their "word" for help to stay on the page.
Thanks for reading. Surely-hopefully we can retain our sense of humor after we "conk." love that word. (sick humor)

This is great, and I wish I had a six left, but mine are all gone. Love the use of dialect. What a wonderful idea. We need a lot of ghosts to go down the border and scare those trying to enter the country illegally. I'm amazed to read about those in the administration who seem to be all for letting the illegals in. I believe Blinken was among them. I don't think these ghosts need to worry about whether they can shoot or not. Just making with the moans should do it. judi

thanks, Judim for reading and for your comments.
Too bad we can't try it.
Blinken and Mayorkas, I don't think give a fig for this country.
The new Speaker seems like a good guy, though I voted for Jordan.
Sounds like he's ready to get down to work. I, for one, am ready to see some Republican action.

I'm glad they finally got a speaker. It really made the Republicans look bad. I hope this squabble won't cost them the House. judi

I liked your fun dialogue, Katharine! But I don't know if the ghosts would do a lot of good. But it's a better idea than a wall which would take too long and too much money to build. Besides, the ones who can afford to enter illegally fly to Canada and enter that way through the unguarded places. And then there's that sticky law that if a baby is born here - the baby is automatically a citizen. It's not like that in other countries. That law has to change because we have people flying in and having American citizens here and going back. Can those babies vote in our elections?

well, we have millions coming in down here, Helen, into Texas and we've got to do something since the gov't won't. If a wall will stop these coming from the south, build it! San Antonio has a bunch of them and I'm concerned about opening my door to people on Halloween. I live alone and the terrorists and cartels, etc etc people might think Halloween night is a great time to go on a rampage.
As far a voting goes, I have no doubt there will be millions of illegals counted as I heard they are being given IDs!
Thanks for reading my silly story. I had fun writing it.

This is a good dialogue only story. It has a beginning, middle, and end, you can tell your sisters. Tex figures a ghost can be helpful with the crowded border problem.

You had me laughing all the way through this story. Your two characters are unbelievably humorous, and I enjoyed their dialogue. The idea of a ghost cowboy and an all most ghost is really clever. I laughed at the idea of the havoc they could cause assisting border patrol.

I love writing dialogue only, and look forward to more of yours.
