Hi, Douglas. This is wonderful. There are so many meanings that someone could draw from this. That's just one of the things I love most about poetry. The image is beautiful, and I love the background with the alternating font colors. Awesome presentation and good luck in the contest! -- Irene

Thank you so much! I really liked writing this one and think that I am finally starting to produce some decent Haiku! This is so validating. I appreciate you!

Sunflowers are a happy flower to me. Not sure why but they seem happy. I doubt people will remember this poem in the spring, but it's very well written and I enjoyed reading. Thank you for sharing it with us and good luck with the contest.

You have my favorite flower pictured here for your beautiful 5-7-5 contest entry. A lovely offering in short verse poetry. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest.

Thank you, Sally! Trying to nail the nature element of Haiku!

I just reviewed your winning ribbons. Impressive, and of all those listed I only see one in the genre I canot come to grops with. Still, there must be an audience as you continue on.
As for this posting ... well done. I understand it completely, as I have the others that win the prize for you.

I am, too. To be on not to be on this site is never to be question. I chose the right road, never knowing what would have been had I gone left. Trans? Not me.
P.S. - I am trying to be funny here.
    No ill intent intended.

It should be timely when the contest starts. For not we saying goodbye to summer. I like you 5-7-5 poem. Come April my anticipation of the coming months will be on the rise. I love seeing the world come alive again. Excellent picture.

I love that fresh rebirth feeling as well. Maybe this was just my mind bemoaning the end of summer.

Excellent entry for the 5-7-5 Poem contest.

I like the presentation too. Concrete images easy to visualize. The font type is hard to read. I would use thinner letters font type and maybe a lighter font color. Just a suggestion.

Good syllables count and connection between lines.

Good luck in the contest.

Thank you so much. You were correct, Master Poet. I think it looks much better now. If you get a second can you take a second peek?

Really? I've never quite understood these contests which will not be judged for months and months! This works very well now, as just yesterday two hardy and diligently stubborn sunflowers celebrated the last day of August by blossoming as brightly as the sun! "summer dreams spring forth" is a clever seasonal reference as well as a nod to when this will be under (the committee's?) assessment. When the muse nags at you, write, by all means! Good luck!

Just kept rattling around in my cranium. Had to put it to paper. So to speak.

I call that poetic catharsis. (smile)

    Highly recommended!

Happens to me a lot with prose stories pushing to come out. Death playing poker with his normal friends is the most recent one that is demanding to be written. This is actually the first time this has ever happened to me with poetry as I am no poet. Strange.

Oh! I just went to look for it when my brain kicked in and I realized you indicated it "is demanding to be written."

(I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree)

Alrighty then! I'll be watching for the debut!
