Gypsy, This is a very well written Senyru you have penned about the widow at the food store. You used very good descriptive words and great imagery from the picture of the family size box of Family size Cheerios. Thanks for sharing. love and blessings, teri

Hi Gypsy
Yes a good senryu as both the image and words speak together snd portrays the sadness in the widow longing for her family

That's so sad. The reduced income makes it harder to buy overpriced cereals like Cheerios. I stopped buying it since they don't use organic oats. Oats can retain the pesticides that is tied to blood cancers like the one my husband has. He used to eat Cheerios every single day for decades!

The thing was that her husband died kids left the nest she didn't need 'family size'

I eat cereals once in a while. I didn't know they cause cancer. I like frosted mini wheats. It seems like everything causes cancer. It's pretty scary.

    Thank you big sister.

I know! We do have to be careful and I tend to eat the same things over and over so I should be careful, too. Organic cereals are even more expensive!

This was a great senryu, Gypsy. The pictures were priceless- they showed the widowed woman looking longing at a family size cheerios. Very well done and sadly but greatly enjoyed. Blessed Be n Hugs!!!

Wish I had the additional star to give. The picture you chose is perfection itself. Your poetry is simply the most perfect blend with the look on her face. And the photo of the hearts Cheerios, is the icing on the cake,
how did you get a picture there? Wonderful wonderful work. Karen

Sad thing is, when she had the family to feed, she probably couldn't afford the big box of cereal. There are triggers for sadness and happiness everywhere we turn. Great job. Gretchen

Another fine poem, Gypsy, and hunger is a sad fact in America that only one party is willing to try to do something about. It's a shameful fact the the Republicans are so callous, so useless

I like your Senryu poem- good picture presentation of woman at the food store - widow- (husband died) family gone -all alone / yearning for the days when she purchased family sized Cheerios? Clever- perhaps in stead of widow- Grandma? Widows often have kids?Good job AP

Widow gives the sense she is alone. It's what I wanted.

I'm there. I know what it's like. Although I enjoy cooking, everything I make is too much for one person. I wouldn't worry about the Cheerios, though, because they'll keep. You convey what the woman is going through. She misses her family, and buying things for one person is just a reminder of when the family was together. the woman in the picture looks sad, but she also has a determined expression in the set of her mouth.
Life goes on. judi
