Another fine poem, Gypsy....and indeed, your house could be located in Death Valley and it would still seem dark and cold when losing a lover. A sad reality for a lot of us

ooh dark. i like dark poems.
the refrains worked well in this free verse
and the imagery and words flowed smoothly
good emotions -- "No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader." - Robert Frost

Hi Gypsy, this is a poem of loss, and a poem that many people can relate to. Of special note:
my home is dark and cold
(Unfortunately, any home without love is dark and cold, even if it's filled with people. )
Good sensory appeal. Beautiful presentation. Well done. Xo. M

Gypsy,
I like the way your dark blue graphics portray a sense of coldness and loss. The way you describe that loss is really exceptional when you use the phrase 'Winter's Night. Both words paint a picture of cold emptiness and loss.
I hope life is treating you well.
Have a great Subday.

That is very sad because the love for the departed one still remains. That makes it so much harder to let him go and move on. The coldness of winter doesn't help, and echoes the aloneness.

This is a very sad poem. The narrator just can't quite let go. There seems to be a welcome cocoon of darkness for this person. The pain is almost comforting. Great poem. Gretchen
