Hello Sandtana. I don't believe I have reviewed you before. My name is Paul. Your wistful piece is rather sad - and it follows a particular philosophy which many will not share.
If there is no hereafter or eternal personality, then it is indeed as you say here, and nothing more - but you have described beautifully the events of mere life and physical death with great compassion. Then, rather like Coleridge's 'Kubla Khan', we are left with nothing but the stone - meaningless and desolate. Once everyone has ceased to remember us, it sounds as if you think that this life was meaningless too - because you have used the word 'just' - and that is reductionist.
Well, I love your poem, but find it too pessimistic for my faith and philosophy. If that is all, I'm not sure it's worth having - so I will challenge you to see if there might be more than this. But I have found the writing to be excellent. Thank you.

I am thankful that The Lord granted me Victory over the grave. My wife is buried there, and life is so fleeting, my name will be next to her soon, then, one day, my daughter. I hope I can make a difference so people will remember more than a dash between dates.

I was recently at a graveside service and had a very similar thought. You did a great job making the reader wonder about the lives of those who have gone before us. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.
