I agree with your message about killing animals and I like the way you put it at the end. Again, an unexpected twist in the poem because reading the title, I thought the two monarchs would be the queen and Charles.

Very well done here, K. An excellent semi loop poem highlighting the vanity and green of those who hunt for sport. Your imagery is terrific and gives us a good look into a dreadful practice.

Too bad that royalty felt the need to engage the hunt that killed that fine stag.

Thank you for sharing. :)

Hello, my friend, Thanks for reading. Royalty has always hunted, including the past Queen. It is time to stop it. Hunt for food if you must, the deer are culled anyway. Big hugs, K XX

The analogy in this poem is compelling. This is an interesting story about a subject I have sad feelings about. My dad was a hunter. He hunted for sport. A stuffed deer head with large antlers hung in our dining room, and was the subject of discussion for anyone who visited our house. My sisters and I cried when dad brought it in. We thought he killed Bambi. I went hunting once and shot a groundhog and cried again. Hunting is not for me and I disapprove. I agree with the Londoners.

Hello little Butterfly, Yes, a cruel and useless sport. The Royals had more money than they can spend. The Queen was the richest woman in the World! Thank you. K xx

It was neither greed nor need .For her it was a thrill of achievement. I could never understand it.Yeah it is pride and vanity .Hope the King won't feel like that

If he had a brain it would be lonely. He only goes on pheasant shoots. Thanks for reviewing my friend. K xx

A great picture of this magnificent animal, and sad to think of these creatures being killed for sport and for the trophy of the antlers. You told this story well in your loop poem and notes K.
Well done, cheers.

I like your posts because I always learn a bit of history. You tell tales of history in poetic form. Like I said, I like that.
Interestingly, I was watching Jeopardy last week, and the answer to the final question was Balmoral. For the past few days I've been meaning to look it up. I did not even know that it was in Scotland.
Like you, I despise hunting for sport. I enjoyed your poem though.
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Debbie, Balmoral castle was the Queen's favorite, she could get away from the London crowds. When Diana died, the Queen hid at Balmoral until her people complained she should be there for Diana's funeral. Diana was the Queen of hearts and mobbed everywhere she went. I believe she and Dodi were murdered in Paris. The Royals couldn't have an Egyptian marry into the family, Diana was more loved than Charlie (who is now king) we don't like him and I think we will eventually become a republic. Love, Kay xx

We just happened to be in London on coronation day this summer. Went to a Garden Party and everything. I picked up on the fact that people don't really like Charles. What do you think of William and Harry?

I have no time for the so-called King and I like William and Kate; better choice for the throne. As far as Harry goes - stars in his eyes as Megan cast her net. He is being coached by her. "Oh, feel sorry for me" sad socks. He was a teenage rebel, I think Diana would have made a big difference to the boys. I also think she and Dodi were murdered. What do you think?

You sort of have the same opinion as me. Particularly about Harry and William. I'm not so sure about the murder of Diana. I hate to think that badly of the monarch family. You very well may be right though.

The Royals were having a Mac attack over Diana wanting to marry an Arab. Dodi's father spent millions trying to find who killed them. K xx

I hate it when people kill because they can. I can't imagine beiing proud of having taking such a magnificant life. I guess it is the way they were raised to believe it was the thing to do. My husband was brought up killing but over the years he realized he didn't have heart to do it any more.

The Royals have always had shooting parties, as most European Royalty did. Thanks for reading Beth. Kxx

Ciao,

I saw the majestic Stag and thought I was going to read a lovely poem about these noble creatures.

I read your notes that followed..... I totally agree... killing for sports is wrong.

The royals and the nobles in the past enjoyed fox hunting too.

I'm glad that sport is not allowed anymore.

I don't see there is anything to be proud of just because she had a good aim.

In the wild a stag's death means the survival of another predator (wolves, bears, puma etc)

It's not even a fair fight shooting from a distance with a rifle. And no one should enjoy in taking a life.

Such a magnificent beast that ends up hanging as a trophy on a wall... it makes me sick.

I had no idea the queen enjoyed such a despicable practice.

All Royal families across Europe went on shooting parties. The Queen was hard as nails. King Charles just shoots pheasants for his table. Why? They're rolling in money! Blessings, Kay xx

This is a beautiful picture of the herd. Such a waste of beauty. She just killed him for fun not for good. I hate people like that who do what ever they want when the y want just to prove a point.

Barb, All the European Royals went on shooting parties. She killed for pride so she could have those antlers on her trophy wall. Charles just shoots pheasants (birds) the family doesn't need food! Love, K xx
