I love this story. I read it once before and have no idea why I didn't review it. It is wonderful and buddy, you feel good about yourself with your career skills in accounting and all you have got going for you, because I would love to do what you do.

Yes, I have the tech stuff and taught myself all that stuff but my hubby calls it a waste of time. He does the checkbook and takes care of the bill pay and taxes stuff, etc etc. but only because there was a time when I had so many deaths that after about nine months of like really close deaths in a short time, I couldn't even think to pay the bills anymore. It was horrible. Mom, grandma, two brothers, cousin, 2 aunts and a niece. Before the year was through my brother who died the year before, his 18 year old son crashed his car and joined them all. It was so bad I was afraid to answer a phone. I would just freeze. Anyway, that is why I stopped.

Well, now I have to help him learn how to do things on his iPad and I could take the bill pay back, but I would do it online so he kept it. When it comes to the big math, you guys have it all going on. At least that's what I used to think about Glen, but last week he had a toe amputated and now he says it has ruined his math skills. LOL....

Anyway, great story my friend, and I love hearing about wonderful grand-parenting as this was definitely one of those great ones that you did. I guess when it comes down to it, you have all your ducks in a row when it comes to knowing what is truly important. Awesome grandparents!!

I can see all that death leading to traumatize a person. Knowing you through this site, your heart is huge and made of silver and gold and supremely family oriented. As anything else, life continues, we redirect ourselves and move on to enjoy those still with us (not that we ever forget those who passed).

Debi, you?re special and I?m glad to know you.

    Have a great Monday!
    Yikes, a toe amputated?
Now he?ll only be able to do multiples through nineteen?

This would be humorous, except it reflects my infinitesimal small brain much too adequately. Oh, and don't get me going about your state of New Jersey. Any time I went there with my wife, I got hopelessly lost. How did I ever survive?
Well, at least you've got Jackson. my daughter is still unmarried and childless.

Jim, I?m sorry to read of your bride being taken by Covid on your profile.

My sons ex-wife and kids live in Jacksonville (Fleming Island to be exact) and he works in St Augustine.
If one can live and survive in NJ, you can survive anywhere.

Good talking to you. Stay in touch.

Prior of course to her passing, my wife and I spent some happy hours in St. Augustine. During the Christmas holidays, you travel through the city with "magic glasses" that turn white lights into reindeer heads.

I'm with you on this. Newer isn't always better. Great story, the writing was perfect. It was my favorite kind of story. The kind that plays out as a movie while I read.

My grandkids are smarter than I am, LOL! I understand completely. The Bible says in the book of Isaiah, "... and a little child shall lead them." I guess that verse covers all aspects of life.

Next time, do get the garage door opener first thing. :))

Sending you my best today as always, and my best in all things.

When in IT doubt, call a young person, always.

Thank you, Sally for stopping by.

A five-year-old piano student of mine the other day shouted, "Alexa! Turn on lights!" Her mom popped her head into the piano room and said, Suzy! We don't have Alexa."Suzy gave her a look of total incredulity. "What?!" she squawked at her mother. "All my FRIENDS have Alexa!"

So, my point here is: Don't feel bad. Not EVERYONE who is young has the technological amenities your daughter's family does. And look at the right side: next time you sit for Jackson, you'll be that much more techno-savvy!!

Cute post.

I must admit if I was born in this tech savvy generation, perhaps, just perhaps I might know how things work, but like you, I don't, but I've been here a lot longer than when this generation burst onto the scene, beautifully written John, blessings Roy

Hi John, I hear your lament. Since a recent lightning strike, our house is in electronic hell. I enjoyed reading your story. I could see the whole scene before me. Of special note:

"Stay here in the car," I said.

Like Rambo invading a North Vietnamese prison camp to rescue American POW's, I rushed into the house.

(Good imagery. Are you my husband's twin? The same thing would happen here n my end Lol, but true.)

I'm glad that everything was ok inside the house and that Jackson enjoyed his sliders and French fries and your daughter and husband had a great night out. Your story illustrates the frustration of electronics as well as the joy of family. Well done.

Have a great night, Rambo. Big-teeth grin. Margaret

Wow, John you really hit, something, I don't know what. This was horrible to say the least. The younger generation tends to feel so smart but I doubt if they had to deal with we had to, they would be smarter. Dang, I feel even smarter now. Peace n Blessings!!!

Most amusing. Im 59 and like to think that I am pretty up on tech, but I still, similarly, get completely thrown by some smart device. I hate Alexa, and music algorithms that tell me what to listen to. More to the point, if I turn the lights on in the house with a wall switch, my (much younger) partner gets cross as I have disabled the app, and I should have done it on the phone. How is that easier? Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I really enjoyed reading this.

I am 85 and have the same problem. I have a Cindy also and she has a watch and does the same. Maybe it is the water we drink. Good one John. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Ben for reading and sharing. Does your Cindy have a Jayson like mine does?

Hey. It?s great to hear from you! I was worried. I hope you?re feeling better and on the road to amends.

    Be well,

After raising her family into adulthood, her and her husband adopted twin boys at birth. They are fourteen now. She has grandchildren Glore and busy as a bee. She will come by and check on the old man a couple of times a week. . I enjoyed reading about your experience.
