This was really good. I like the development between those two. I liked their talk. It was a good development in their relationship. Seth and Emma are both falling for each other but both so uncomfortable in their budding relationship. I am really enjoying this. Gretchen

I didn't see anything that needed changing, Barbara. This chapter read very well with fluency and good pace and it really felt like the differences and awkwardness between Seth and Emma were being ironed out thanks to the intervention of the pastor. But there is this tension hanging over Emma from an external threat that keeps everyone vigilant, including the reader. Thanks for sharing, Debbie

I didn't see anything that needed changing, Barbara. This chapter read very well with fluency and good pace and it really felt like the differences and awkwardness between Seth and Emma were being ironed out thanks to the intervention of the pastor. But there is this tension hanging over Emma from an external threat that keeps everyone vigilant, including the reader. Thanks for sharing, Debbie

I'm glad to see Emma and Seth are back to being friends. I think the pastor called it correctly. Emma has feelings for Seth and isn't quite ready to acknowledge them so she has put up a barrier. Looks like Ace has adopted her though. She certainly is spoiling him.

After talking it over, and straightening things out a bit, Emma and Seth have deepened their relationship.

I wish people would start treating Emma like an adult. She's already hyper-sensitive, and they should step back and let her take some responsibility. I love all the Molly and Ace references. Even Ace has taken it upon himself to be protective of Emma. The guy who's been stalking her and the one who assaulted her at the hardware store must be the same. I hope Seth had some other police officers out looking for him, as he questions seem to come a little late. Great line from Emma about people beginning to gossip about Molly and Ace's relationship. Great characterization. I like that you're letting the relationship build gradually. judi

Now this was a satisfying chapter to me, Barbara. We finally get some true resolution to the differences between these two, although we still don't really know everything about either one of their pasts that make them the way they are yet. This is a very slow buildup.
Not having read many novels in the romance genre, it's finally dawning on me, that the romance itself is the whole major thrust of the story, and that the climax of the story and the whole point of it is when they will finally admit to each other that they are in love with each other. This isn't the means to some greater plot. This is the plot. The action, such as it is, with the bad guys and the evil Peggy Barton are just supporting parts to the main story and are just a means for driving the romance forward. But the romance is the whole thing.
Plenty of books I read have romance in them, and I really like those parts, but it is just secondary to the main plot. As thick as I am, I've finally come to the realization that with a romance novel, that is the main plot.
It's taken me a while, but I think I've got it now. This explains some of my frustration with the slow unfolding of this story, but I really shouldn't be frustrated. I'm finally beginning to appreciate the genre for what it is. Is it my favorite genre? Probably not, but at least I can understand it now and appreciate it for what it is.
This is by no means a put-down of the genre. I can see why it is so appealing to women and probably less so to men, but that's just our respective natures. I think you're doing a fine job telling this story the way you enjoy telling it, Barbara, and the way it should be told and enjoyed, and I'm glad for reading it. I look forward to the rest.
If I never buy a romance novel to read, I will keep reading yours because I enjoy them in my own way, and I think from now on, I can learn to be more patient in the telling.

Thank you for the kind review. When I went to my father-in-law's funeral, I was shocked at how many men came up to me and loved my novels. I never expected it.
