Good news for the Captain and Betty Jo that soon they'll be able to wed. A great chapter Sally. Some romantic moments and some relief with Paullette's capture. Well told thriyghthe dialogue used.
Cheers

Here is a very positive chapter as this fascinating story enters its wrap-up phase. Tommy is delighted that Willa is carrying their baby, who will have two loving parents instead of one.

As temporary Captain in place of Hank Riley at the Aspen Grove P.D., Tommy handles his tasks well, with Jackson to book Gaston Paulette when Sheriff Gonzalez brings him, and then Jackson and Miles to escort him to jail. Sally and King will help with finding Paulette's relatives for questioning, if Chase can find their addresses; but Doc Stuart says they don't have regular addresses.

At the hospital, booming voiced Doctor Shorter, head of internal medicine, tells Hank and Betty Jo that Hank may be able to go home in a few days, and they may marry in two weeks, if his blood draw looks good. Of course, they happily agree about that schedule.

At Simon's mother's funeral, Greyson Cole reminisces about his daughter's positive attitude, making Candace wish she had known her; but Greyson says Victoria's caring traits now reside in Simon. Then Greyson reveals that he found Victoria's journal at her Baltimore condo, where he is considering moving to be closer to Simon, Candace, and Daniel, whom Simon is adopting. The journal likely will be conclusive evidence of Fee's crimes.

Betty Jo then arrives, bringing flowers. I like the way that all the good people in this story clearly care about each other.

Superb, and aptly illustrated with a portrait of Veronica.

This is such a good chapter, Sally. Filled with such love, honor, and responsibility. You've gathered a dandy group of characters under the roof of your novel. The good are very very good and the bad ... they're pure evil. It makes a nice contrast. I did have only one question--or rather, I made one suggestion:

"I kissed her as passionately as the day we were married, then knelt and kissed her womb. [I don't know, Sally, but I think "belly" might be more appropriate here. Womb, to me, connotes the organ inside the body. But let me b quick to say I'm no doctor!]

Thank you for being so good at what you do, Sally, and make reading your stories a joy. My heart beats a little faster seeing you've posted.

Jay

Dear Jay, thank you so much for the wonderful review and generous stars. Both mean the world to me. I have changed it to belly as you were right. The woman is inside and cannot be seen. Belly sounds more appropriate. Thank you so much for your input and your continued kindness to me. Sending you and yours my very best, Sally XOs

A very romantic chapter, Sal. For you to be able to write romance so well, you must be a romantic yourself:-) Once again, your dialogue moves your story along nicely. Very much enjoyed it.

Paragraph that begins with "Back at the hospital," - you have the word "as" twice in the same line.

The first paragraph threw me as I though Paulette was a woman. I read a few lines later it was a surname.
In addition, "The east facing window was cheering the room, and the couple took it as as hopeful sign." ???
Maybe the sun shined through but a window cheering the room? What am I missing?

A very sweet chapter as we see resolution of recent events. You start with the excellent news that Willa is having a baby. What great news!!! Nothing like new life to breathe hope and comfort to those who have suffered loss.

Then, Betty Jo and Hank getting closer and closer to their own happy event, that is, based on the results of the blood tests.

A bittersweet funeral of Simon's mother. There's sorrow, but resolution as well.

Well written and engaging.

I always love your work, and this is no different!! I'm so glad I have been able to follow it.

Hugs,
Rhonda

Things are finally coming out on the bright side for the good people and not looking so good for the bad ones. Hope there aren't any bad surprises coming up to ruin the good mood.

Oh, a baby! Wow! I like that you've been updating the list of characters as the story progresses. That's helpful. (I look forward to a new chapter each week!) Great idea to have had Victoria keep a journal. Hope it has much good information to help the case against FEE.
Good chapter! Blessings. Carol

I love the way you weave family attitudes and the delight this brings to you, is quite obviously tied in with your own attitudes toward family, and the opposites like Fitzgerald Elling, and the reasons why he becomes corrupted, excellent episode Sally, blessings Roy
