Unlike Sarah, I have never wanted to have a life less ordinary, but she has pushed herself and achieved this ambition of paddling the Nile and I'm sure she won't stop there. An interesting story about one interesting woman's epic journey.
cheers,

Thank you so much, Valda. Yes, me too, I have no ambitions to do anything like that.

Once again, an extremely well-researched story, Wendy, and told with admirable skill. Have you ever considered taking a job as an official biographer? Maybe you should. Maybe you already have. In any case, great work. Craig

Hi Wendy. I enjoyed reading about Sarah. I've never heard of Hostile Environment Awareness Training before.
I'll never be able to move to Australia because I don't have any skills to offer the country, but I'm glad some people can.

Thank you for sharing Sarah's story! I hope you put all your inspiring stories into a book. Our young people need to know about how these people planned and pursued their goals with such admirable perseverance and discipline.

Thank you Helen for your encouragement. A lovely review. I am thinking about doing just that, when I get enough stories. Hope all is well. I assume your daughter has found a place? How did it work out for her? And you are in your studio?

Yes, thank you for praying. A miracle indeed. And very last minute!

Sarah sure was a risk-taker! She paddled the Nile river from the beginning to the sea and made it! I am impressed by what her mother modeled for her. She learned from the best teacher of them all, her own mother!
This was inspirational and enjoyable to read!
Thanks for sharing this amazing true story!
And this is a wonderful post as good if not better than all the rest!

Wow! What a story, which you convey with verve and aplomb. What a character she is, and I especially like the link to 'risk management'. A term so linked to offices and buildings suddenly having resonance in the wild.

Thank you for a super review. You are right, and those same principles can be applied to all of life really. We often apply the same strategies without thinking of them as risk management. Or we just tell ourselves that something is too risky without applying them and having a go.

I am breathless. You took me along on this epic adventure with my heart in my mouth!
These parts stood out for me as key points you made:
Sarah learned to never fear not knowing how to do something. The simple answer was to learn how to do it. She counted these values as her mother's most precious gift to her.
and...
She also raised awareness of the role and significance of risk management - applicable to all people everywhere.
The impossible becomes possible when the challenges are broken down into smaller units, and strategies are devised to minimise potential harm and maximise achievement.
and...
Her own example showed that one can overcome fear and anxiety by planning for what is controllable, and by applying all one's knowledge and skills base to managing unforeseen events.

Thank you very much - I am so glad you enjoyed her story. The parts you selected are just what I wanted everyone to understand - that there are things we can apply to our more ordinary lives. with great benefit. Many thanks for a wonderful review.

Sarah Davis is an amazing woman. I am impressed by her. Women can do so much, if given a chance. Thank you for sharing her with us.
She loved sport, (sports??)
and discovered that her favourite events involved ocean ski & she sensed that her life had a bigger purpose. & she immediately knew that this was it! (you can omit 'that')

Thank you very much Barbara for your thoughtful review. There must be some cultural differences here, as in general we would use "sport", and in writing we always include the conjunction.

This is an amazing story of an very brave woman. I guess where there is a will there is a way. She prepared well and in spite of some pain and difficulties she succeeded in what she wanted to achieve. You have written a wonderful story of her adventure. Thank you for sharing this.

You have done it again, Wendy. A great story. Did you say that you are going to gather up these pieces and put them in a book? I think it would do well if promoted properly.

Thank you very much for the honour of six stars Paul. Yes, that is the goal if I can get enough stories of "ordinary" people.
