This is a beautiful haiku for the subject. I enjoyed it very much. I'm looking forward to that day that I am able to be changed from this mortal body enters my mortal body in heaven with Jesus. Patricia.

I have yet to see a butterfly break free from its cocoon. At my children's elementary school they used to raise butterflies. Setting them free in the on-campus butterfly garden. I saw them released once. It was amazing. Great poem. The heavenly meaning wasn't lost on me. Gretchen

Although I like what you've said in your Haiku, and the image is playful and colorful, I would not have understood the last line without your author's notes. I don't know the answer to this, but I assume the judges don't have access to those notes.

Still I wish you luck in the contest.

Pam

Thank you Pam for an insightful and thoughtful review. I don?t know the answer, so I have changed that line into a question, and I think that is better as it will simply provoke thought. Many thanks.

Yes, we shall all be changed! Loved how you allude to St Paul's letter to the Corinthians to describe the transformation from our earthly form to our heavenly bodies just like the butterfly! Best wishes in the contest!

The life of the butterfly is an excellent metaphor for our lives. Like the caterpillar, we may not realize the beauty of what we may become, but we are drawn toward it.

Thank you very much. And the chrysalis stage is transitional, perhaps like death. Lovely review.

This is the part of scripture which requires our faith, it escapes our sense of reality doesn't it? But when one thinks of it, it's trusting in what nature tells us is possible with the witness of the caterpillar, beautifully written Wendy, good luck and blessings Roy

Exactly right. We can see wondrous evidence in nature and trust that at the right time we will emerge from the chrysalis of death and receive the fulness of new life in Him. Wonderful review, thank you so much.

Didn't Dylan THomas most famous writing included this thought? I don't know for sure. I could go look it up ... later
As for your entry, it has a good chance of placing.

I have no idea. I haven't read any of his work since I was about sixteen, but I don't remember these thoughts in his writing. I would feel very honoured if my brain was going in the same direction as his!
    Thanks for reviewing, Tom.

It often seems like a slow crawl to transformation, to becoming a better version of ourselves. Your Haiku gives us a good visual and even hope. Good luck in the contest.
