I look for work that does not have 26 points yet.
This was good work, why the low read? And, I loved all the research you did and shared with us. The picture was simply divine as well. Karen

Thank you so much, Karen! I love spiders. They do such a great job and are so modest, always hiding in dark corners. Debbie

I like spiders too, from afar.

It was very pleasant to read this prompt!
And the description of spiders was pretty elusive.
I'm not a fan of spiders, but I don't kill them either. I believe they are important for the ecosystem.
I really liked the artistic set of words.

Isabel, thank you so much for this which is particularly special to me! Funny thing is I was only reading about them today. They are so clever in so many ways. Apparently, some spiders actually chase their prey while others spin their webs in horizontal lines near to the ground to catch crawling insects as well as flying ones. I love them but only in their corners - not in bed with me or anything like that! Bless you for your time and kindness here. Take care Debbie

A deserved winner, clearly. Well done. Love the alliteration and use of sound amidst the clever creation of a character in the insect. I hate them though!

Thank you so much, John, for your time and feedback here! I actually am rather fond of them because they combine shyness with industry and they're a bit evil as well with their torture chamber of ensnarement and then poisoning their prey!

As previously said, I've been sick and have missed a lot. This is a wonderful poem in short verse 5-7-5 and well-deserving contest winner. Congratulations on your ribbon!
Sending you my best today as always.

Congratulations, Debbie, on your artful 5/7/5.
Spiders intrigue me - always have. I so love to watch them spin their webs.
Our 2.5 year old grandson is also a fan... thinking every spider he sees is "Charlotte." :)
Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much for this great rating and feedback! I love them too - it's their shyness and industry. They just want to be left alone. And when people talk about fearing them and needlessly swiping them, I'm not well pleased! Thanks again Debbie

Never have I been a fan of spiders. But recent poems and videos I have seen. They are so misunderstood. If we just let them be and let them do what they do, what is the problem with that?! They are creepy looking but I appreciate them a little more after reading this. Thank you for sharing! ~Janel

Jane, thank you so much for your kind rating and thoughts. I'm delighted that they might hold more meaning for you. I think I've always liked them because they seem so shy and yet so industrious and smart, just doing their own thing. Thanks again, Debbie

They are fantastic creatures, their ability to miss getting caught in their own web is amazing enough, but their ability to persist in re-weaving their own web persistently despite wear and tear, once encouraged Robert the Bruce to keep on trying to defeat the British until he succeeded, and He did, beautifully written Debbie, blessings Roy

Oh! I see how this won the contest -- congratulations. And I have to thank you for your wonderful notes, too. I had no idea about much of what you tell the arachnid.

Thank you, Dawn, for your kind rating and comments. They really are little characters aren't they and can do so much for medical research. The trouble is they can't really be put into a breeding situation with others because they tend to be a bit on the cannibalistic side! Thanks again, Debbie

Your haiku was well worth the winter the contest. The syllabication was correct and the alliteration was done excellently. The repetition s's and t's gave it just the hiss a snake poem deserves.

Six not only for your poem, but for the wonderful information you also took the trouble to include. The spider is also a great food source for developing wasps, a cache of paralysed spiders being left by the wasp parents. But I guess that's not valuable for the ecosystem. The ancients put spiderweb on wounds - it seems that they had something there. All the best in the comp.
