Hello Shelley :)
I enjoyed reading your 5/7/5 poem and wish you the best of luck for the contest.
Super imagery. I can hear those crickets starting up their chorus and see the owl opening a bleary eye, not quite ready to wake for a night's hunting.
Best wishes, Debra

A fine 5-7-5 which is more like a Haiku and I wish you luck in the contest, I enjoyed the sweet nighttime sounds in this short write, nature's song is alive and kicking here, love Dolly x

Good luck in the contest! What you say is all truth. Night owls are amazing and the crickets could very well be their alarm clock! Or the frogs, one or the other. Maybe both? Diana

Excellent 5/7/5 poem for the contest. Great presentation and clever word choice.
I go to sleep to crickets every night. If not the real thing, I play my sound machine with night sounds. Haha.
Blessings and good luck.
Janet

This is very good, and it does paint a complete natural scene that the reader can easily visualize.

But what concerns me, is, where does the poem begin? Because of the font, one (the contest committee) could assume that: ...crickets chirping.
Is a part of the poem. (I know but they could. It is written words) I would reconsider that.

That's pretty clever, Shelley. I usually skip the Haikus, but this one caught my attention. The last line is really good. You should do well in the contest.

Between your words and the flowing grass in the photo, it triggered an auditory response - I swear my mind was momentarily tricked into hearing crickets. I live on the edge of a wood and we keep the windows open so that we fall asleep to crickets and frogs. Nicely presented.

Such is the outworking of the divine order of things. Crickets announce, "Attention, your meal is ready for pickup. Ding!" the circle of life is perfectly round. what goes around must come right back around.
