Excellent post, and as usual, we as the consumer get left holding the bag, so to speak, if something goes wrong. I think everything boils down to the all mighty dollar, not the best interest of the public. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful Wednesday afternoon. Shirley

This is an informative article that probably makes some people worry and others hope it doesn't really mean anything to them. The cost of many recalls is high and leaves people without something that they found useful, but the danger has to be considered.

Airbags and seatbelts are put into cars for a reason. Even though they are they are, they don't always protect us totally from the damage of an accident, which may be very violent. A friend of mine at church lost his wife in a head on collision with a pick up truck, if it was being driven by a man who was drug and alcohol impaired. Patricia

Years ago I was working full-time and had two part-time employments. Needless to say, one day at 2pm in the afternoon I fell asleep at the wheel, went off the road at 45mph and split a telephone at the base. I was thankful for the airbag! No facial injuries at all.

Two fatalities out of 67 million potential... the numbers don't justify the recall other than the 2 families. I'm not trying to sound insensitive but it's a numbers game, which sucks!

Great editorial post.

What is sad is its real no one wants to take the time to go check it out at the desrs up to see if it's in the up and up.thet just sweet mot recalls under the rug till something happens then it well dam If I would of could have taken care of I could have solved the problem.

Hello Brett,
thanks for sharing this informative post. I'd heard something about the recall on Newsmax. When one considers that of the sixty seven million inflators in use, to have only two fatalities, I'd say it's a case of a government agency trying to justify the inflated budget that they receive. Life by it's very nature is a gamble. We can't protect everyone from everything. The cost would be prohibitive. It's foolish to even think that way in my opinion. Thanks for sharing.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

I don't think I have ever gotten a call or notice about an airbag recall. I've always been paranoid of an airbag. The power and force they have when the inflate are terrifying. This was very interesting and informative. Thank you for posting. Gretchen

I've not heard all this information about airbags and although I get 3 to 10 other scammers calling each day, so for airbags hasn't been one of them. I do know from the scammer hot line they are not from a ligitimate source and are out to steal information. Anytime a car company issues a recall it is always by regular mail. I think there is plenty to worry about without fretting you die from air bag fragments. The scammers have turned a mild manner lady in to someone who is totally distrusting and rude.

I can't say that I would even have airbags if it were up to me. Heck, I don't even like to use seatbelts; although, I'm sure it's safer if I do. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

It does make one wonder. My conclusion is probably nothing is 100% safe. So, maybe everything needs to be recalled, just to error on the side of caution. I enjoyed reading. You did a good job writing this.
