I don't like it either! There are too many robocalls and automatic devices to suit me. I know if the world is run by automatic intelligence we can be and will be replaced eventually. So, bring on the old-fashioned phones of yesterday when we could talk all day and go over to someone's house and play in a playground like the old days!

Thanks for the excellent review and I wish we could go back to the days when conversing and doing all these tasks face to face had more soul to it. You never get to hear a person's voice anymore, watch their body language. All that is lost in the impersonal contact of today. estory

I like one on one relationships the best.
None of that impersonal fake voice on a prerecorded message.

This one resonates with me. I've been reading quite a bit about AI recently and it makes me shudder. Your lines 'The whole world seems like one vast operating system / Filled with programs running programs' seem to me to say it all. As with so many of mankind's brighter ideas, whether used for good or evil remains a human choice. At least for now!

My daughter and son-in-law just bought a new Tesla vehicle. There are so many gadgets on the vehicle that my son-in-law gets really frustrated when things don't work right at the very first time. The new gadgets on the Tesla are all programs that he hast to learn. He tells me this afternoon there's gonna be an update on those and he's just out of the vehicle for less than a month so it's probably a learning experience every month or every two or three weeks. Patricia.

Thanks for the excellent review. Technology to me is something that doesn't even work all the time. And when it doesn't, it can be maddening because these companies require that you use it. They save money, we go crazy. And they compile all our data and sell it to marketers. Who allowed that? estory

Absolutely, estory, and you describe it so very clear in your poem. We are losing more and more control of our lives. It's quite frightening, actually. Somehow it has to be stopped. Are our children and grandchildren even aware of this happening?
I really enjoyed reading your well written poem. Ulla:)))

Thanks again for the exceptional review estory

Yes, all this is very scary. It seems no human intelligence is needed any more. Getting a real live person on the phone to discuss your problem is almost impossible. We could all disappear tomorrow and the world would go as if nothing had happened.

Thanks for the excellent review and I think you got the point. People don't realize how dangerous this is. Once these rich people realize they don't need you, do you think they're going to keep footing the bill for all these people who use resources and pollute the world, cause trouble, or lay around playing video games? estory

I am at odds with AI. It seems it could be the wherewithal for a better life save for the fact that who programmed it left their thoughts behind, and without knowing who that was, I hesitate climbing aboard.

Thanks for the excellent review and I am glad I got people thinking at least. Your point is valid. Who is controlling all this? and for what purpose? I don't trust all this compassionless logic either. estory

Our lives being micromanaged by computers and AI is indeed a scary thought.... and not just a thought, it is a fact. As a creative person, you have pinpointed these incursions on our personal lives in stark truth. Somewhere up in the cloud is a higher authority - move over God, the godless are taking charge. We have sold our souls.

Thanks for the excellent review and your response is spot on. Exactly the point I was trying to make. This is the anti christ John was warning about in Revelation. The beast that lives without life. And all people worship it. Think of all these people who walk around every minute of their lives staring at their cell phones. estory

Oh... there's food for thought! By your first verse I was hooked. By the third, distinctly alarmed. I am finding myself grateful that I was able to live the greater part of my life without this remote control. Thank you for your expert telling of the threat.

I hate scam calls.
I like all the time passing automated tasks. It's so true. Machines are taking over. Well done!

Thanks for the excellent review and I liked your closing quote. Therein is some small kernel of hope. Poetry is part of the soul. Whether we lose the rest of our soul, we will have to see. What will become of us when AI starts writing verse? estory

You make a good point here, we cannot move with automation and even now in shops we are not served by people, we have an automatic check out. At first I didn't like this but now I am used to it. We can't even speak to companies when we have a complaint now, the world is a little crazy and I understand the frustration in your poignant write here, love Dolly x
