Hello, Jessica,

thank you for participating in the Japanese poetry club event. Great Mondo poem entry with a good connection between lines and a form. Beautiful presentation and imagery.

Good job,

Gypsy

I like the image in your words of the songbirds singing to their shelter. A feeling of peace and comfort comes through your words. I like how your first verse is a question and then you answer the question in the second verse. Your words also take the reader out into the natural world.

This is an unusual form which I had not come across before. The explanation really helps therefore. I loved the imagery in the poem and the use of words beginning with 's' - the poem really conjures up a picture of birds in my mind.

Beautiful, Jess. A simple poem with a simple message. I always thought they were singing to attract each other or just because they liked to sing, but actually they're thanking their sheltering trees! Who knew?

This was beautifully-rendered too with a well-chosen font and picture. Great job! Jim

How lovely to see the birdsong that we hear as a melody of gratitude on their part. You have created a lovely word picture of time and place, but of feeling too. Really sweet.

Thank you for sharing this club entry with us. I just figured the songbird was happy and singing because they are happy. My favorite time of day is sitting outside very early and listening to Mother Nature wake up. I enjoyed reading.

I love this poem. I will have to look up Mondo poetic form. It's a new one to me, most of them are... This is thought provoking. I love that too. Thank you for writing and sharing. Cherish

Thank you, Cherish! I'm with you on that... I hadn?t heard of most - or any, of the Japanese forms before joining the site in February. It's been an education! Haha, This was my first attempt at a mondo poem- I believe it's actually meant to be written by two poets...but for the purpose of this club?s prompt, we just answered our own questions! haha, thank you for your kind words and feedback!!

Oh yes, I think birds are God's avian heralds, and trees that clap their hands in their wariness of their maker are the havens for those heralds, beautifully written friend Jessica, blessings Roy

Excellent work! Love this.

The font you selected, on top of the background color, just soaks in the idea of this being a Yamato-e.

Thank you for writing!
