As Pulitzer prize winning writer Sam Shepard once told me, great writers are brutally honest, leaving nothing out, the good or the bad, telling the whole truth. And you do it well. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Ric. I'm working on a murder mystery titled Graveyard. It is not a horror story. It is a disemboweling of the means streets of Bakersfield. I sense you looking over my shoulder as I write. But for now, I'm going to post the first chapter of "Stone River". Thanks again for the Shepard encouraement.

I did enjoy Concertina and was a little slow realizing he wasn't in
Viet Nam, but I did finally get it. I must have missed the part about the Great Dome Room but did feel it had a good conclusion as Dawn is there with him in the hospital.

This is a great summary of the story. I really enjoyed reading this story. How are you coming getting it published?

Dawn is annoyed with Lee's increasing nightmares and suggests he sleep in the quest room. (guest???)

So good to hear from you, Barbara. I always look forward to your review and input. You have helped me quite a bit. Quest - guest? I need to upgrade my reading glasses. ha ha

Presently, two hundred thirty-eight pages of stories are in Amazon?s publishing program where I am finalizing the editing process. While I could have hired an editor, you and others on FS have been a great resource. And, as soon as it quits raining, I can patch the leaking roof, and when the trees quit blowing down, I can replace the water pump in my suburban etc. etc.

I will keep you posted because you are the #1 gentle reviewer in my head, and I would not want to disappoint you and your mentorship.

    All the best, Yard.

My exploration of the epilogue took me on quite a surreal journey of demons and angels. It was a fascinating read filled with a mixture of horror interspersed with some tongue in cheek humour about which I'm quite grateful! It conveys dramatically the sort of demons and nightmares that exist for vets and people with traumas and I'm thankful for this being shared. On the 12th line from the bottom: "when he dies to himself" (a little confusing). Generally an excellent piece. Take care, Debbie

Thank you, Debbie for your in-depth review. The phrase, "when he dies to himself" is a short hand version of, "when he dies unto himself". I thought 'unto' might sound a little too religious. It basically means to receive faith from God one must leave their 'self' behind.
    Thanks again, Yard.
