This is a very cute haiku you have penned for the Cat haiku club. I love the picture of the cat you chose to use. Very good descriptive words. Best wishes in the contest. love and blessings, Teri

LOL I wish I coulda seen that! You created quite a picture. It ends so funny. I'm not much on writing haikus, but you've done a wonderful job here. Congrats!

Cats do like to tease dogs and it looks like this one succeeded. The poor dog will get blamed for the shattered mirror and the cat will silently laugh with glee for orchestrating the situation.
Great response to the club prompt. Best of luck in the Haiku contest.

I adore cats, this really sounds like something they would do. This poem is delightful to read and to picture in my mind, it's a great contest entry. Best of luck to you.

I enjoyed your haiku. It is cleverly written. While dogs get all the credit for intelligence, cats are also clever. Having had cats, each has shown me how clever they can be from greeting guests to opening doors.
Best wishes
Mary

Absolutely, Mary! Though I'm more of a dog person, I did have a cat years back. He was a tricky and brilliant little creature. lol thank you so much.

Jessica, I like your haiku and good luck in the contest. I also love the picture you chose to accompany the poem. I have never tried to write a haiku as I am no poet.

One thought, and it's probably wrong, but what about changing the word "watching" to "fetching."

Excellent work. Terry.

Thank you so much, Terry! I haven't dabbled much in haiku before joining in February- But I'm finding it very interesting... and challenging. It's a beautiful way to briefly convey a message. The syllable restrictions help wordy writers (like myself) cut to the chase lol I appreciate your feedback, as always!

Oh, I adore cats and this really appeased me. What a cute poem. And such a darling picture to match. I liked the imagery of feline reflection scaring the dog (smile).

Cats are such unique, elegant creatures, you captured it well in your poem.

Hello, Jessica,

Hello,

well done! I love the words imagery and beautiful presentation. Good syllables count. In such short poem, it's better if you don't use the same word more than once. Also, try to keep it as brief as possible.

You could improve the flow.

See what I mean.....

dog chases
cat's reflection-
feline smirks

You can't smirk and nap at the same time. I think smirk is a good word to describe a cat. :)

Oh my, cats are devilishly smart, aren't they? The beat goes on though, and around and around the dog chases the cat to no avail. Delightful poem and response to the prompt, Jess.

Sending you my best today as always.
