That was awful, but unfortunately, it does happen. But, saying that. The elderly lady was happy to know she had a 'wedding', and a 'daughter' and had a visitor every week who brought her flowers. She died happy, and that is what is important. The two pretenders will get their comeuppance one day, but they did do some good. Well done. :)) Sandra xx

What a horrible ending, but probably happens way too often. This is very well written.

"Stop," Rob, interrupted as he shook the hand he was holding. (no comma after Rob, but 'interrupted Rob, shaking the hand he held.' reads a little better.)

Sarah walked around the small cocktail table that separated them and bent down to wrap her arms around Marla. (you can omit 'down' it's understood)

Bastards! Taking advantage of the elderly like that. A good scam, but they will slip up somewhere down the line and get caught.

Your dialogue when the mother was alive was very real and believable. A excellent twist/turn of events for the ending.
