Very good summation of what happened, and should not have happened. The fact that the girl legally bought so many guns should have been noticed by someone as there is no law against it. My grandson had a minor car accident the night his girlfriend told him she was marrying his stepbrother and spent a night in the psych ward here in Illinois. That was more than 10 years ago, and he still can't buy a gun or use a gun. The types of gun the girl used are not hunting guns. Having subbed in a religious school, I know there is, sadly, more than a little pressure on students to conform to certain norms. If they would just quit publishing the names of shooters, our death rate would fall as it has done in France under that policy. So many shooters have just wanted their 15 minutes of fame.

Perhaps would be a suggestion for a cure in this matter. Appreciate your comments and the review.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

This was well written documented and deep.
Deeply needed.
...
When I read and dig deeper into this, what you would call a sickness, a darkness, something that doesn't seem to want to go away?
I did Google one time.
How many students have been shot and slaughtered since the school shootings began?
I believe it was over 350.
...
And also, we got to realize this has been happening at University's such as Michigan State and Virginia Tech.
But why do these young children do this??
Why do they come back to where their education began??
Were they bullied as children previously in grade school and then ignored by the family parents??
These are all questions that need to be answered.
Answered, so that we can put an end to this once and for all.
And get these children who are suffering so much the help they need.
So that no other children will suffer with death.
Thanks and Always,
Doctor Ricky 1024

We sure are living in a messed up world these days, so filled with hatred. I never thought I'd see a time when people would be willing to kill women and children, but these days they just want to kill and don't care who. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, Brett, those children and school personnel had no
reason to suffer at the hands of the shooter. I agree with
you about guns don't kill, it's the people handling them.
Some of the blame must fall on the judicial system which
allows criminals to make bail or be released early from
prison. Some of the blame falls on those who sell guns IF
they circumvent the background checks etc. No civilian should
ever have/own an assault rifle. In this case, the parents have
more involvement that may be found out. Gun safety should
always be the top priority of ALL.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

You've written a great article on a horrific topic. It deserves a six--I wish I had one to give you. I don't even have the words to express how sick I am of this country's fanatical obsession with guns. "The right to bear arms," is defended with an almost religious fervor and there seems to be no end in sight. As you say: When is enough, enough?

What seems to be missing is responsible gun ownership. Appreciate your comments and the review.

Thanks for this information, Bro. I have continually said, I don't deny Americans might need arms for protection, being your population is ten times ours here in Australia. However, it beggars belief, how some of these creeps access weapons, especially below the age of 21 and that retailers are not more discerning as to whom should be purchasing them. There should be an instant register, recording purchases on a National System, each time a purchase is made.

Agree with every word. Tell me why any citizen needs an assault rifle! Crazy.
136 mass shootings so far this year, 74 children dead. What is wrong with the authorities, making it so easy to get and use guns? Several on this site mocked Australia for its tight gun control laws last year. We had ONE mass shooting more than thirty years ago and that was sufficient for the laws to be tightened enormously. We had a killing earlier this year where three extremists ambushed police who came to their farm which they had set up as a killing field. They were killed, as were two police and a neighbour. That's the worst we've had since, apart from domestic violence issues. Horrific account you wrote but very well written. Worthy of six stars but I am out. It becomes very real when you speak about the sibling having to adjust to being an only child. What fear and trauma remains for all.

The amazing thing to me is the American authorities are dealing with everything but the root solution, lopping off branches, hoping the tree will die, it's like trying to give up an addiction in degrees, and like addiction it will not work. That's all, blessings Roy

Well Brett, I wrote my own reaction in a one line poem the moment I learned about this tragedy. Another one of far too many. There's already been 131 mass shootings in the States this year and we're are only the first April tomorrow. When will guns be prohibited in the states? Confiscate every single one. But oh, no, money is more important than lives, even those of children. The day a republican senator looses his or her child or grandchild to a bullet will be the day when something may change. Thanks for sharing. Ulla:)))

Even one dead person, especially a child is too many. I fail to see why Hale had a gun and from everything I've read it was a hate crime against Christianity, although it's not clear cut. If we ban guns, the criminals will be the only people with them. They will figure out a way to get them.
