Aren't you my best FS friend. Be well with winds at your back, and the sun on your face, hopefully not in a desert.

If I was in a desert...
Can it be strawberry jelly?
-
That would be dessert, silly

You did a great job with your poem, Tom. The pictures
were a great addition to your well thought out words. I
agreed with your decision. Things aren't valuable like the
relationship and memories made of two in love. Your ending
was great--so positive and encouraging to others.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Parochial. Elementary. Simple. Each may describe my writing, I suspect, though from where the ideas arrive might be considered quizzical, sardonic, taunting. Jekyll and Hyde-like. An enigma. Yes, I wrote of that a week past. Thanks for the review, which gets you a nomination.

That's a beautiful love poem. And it is relationships and memories which bring happiness, not things, no matter how expensive they are. Very well glowing and written from the heart. Best wishes for the contest.

Not sure this was a contest entry or submitted all alone. You are a peach, as they say in Georgia.

A wonderfully penned love poem. It is a different love poem, first acknowledging your love and choice of memories over diamonds; then challenging your reader to choose which is more important, diamonds or memories. Your reader must look at their love to find which is more important.
Brilliant.
Best wishes,
Mary

The point I tried to make is post mortally diamonds are gone, wisps of smoke, vaporized but memories will be available.

Congratulations on a great achievement. She must be a tolerant woman. Fabulous photos. Jeanette and I married in 74, but we did have a ten-year break midstream and then remarried.

Love is hard to find, to nurture but worth every moment with the right person. I cannot imagine where I would be without her support. She is all that I am not and collectively it helps to have her back and she mine as needed.

I'll take the memories anyway. A touching poem, well written. Upbeat and light. I enjoyed reading it. You can always have both...if your loved once passes before you and chooses to be cremated, their is a company that will compress the ashes into a diamond.
Rollicking, happy poem. Best of luck Tom.

Can I assume you were married in 1978?
I was joined by my lovely bride in 1979. Or is it more correct to say I was allowed to join her on that day? Clearly she could have done better, must've been my charm (ha).
Nicely written poem, Tom.

We wedded in ?79. First year was pure adjustment, my being 31 whereas she was twenty-one. Since, pure bliss, and as you I married up.
-
Same year as me and my better half!

It's taken an old rogue like me a lifetime to finally figure out the true secret to happiness in this old world. We all just want someone to care about us as much as we do them. And sadly, it doesn't happen often. For those fortunate enough to find it, count your lucky stars! Thanks for sharing.

Great post, Tom!!
Like you, I chose memories, which you can treasure and cherish. I liked the tone of the poem, it's like a romance, an ode to LOVE.
Good luck for the contest.

The selected bride by my side makes life easy to pen such thoughts to share.
