Yes, sir, enthusiasm kicks everything into another level of quality and mode. Like that sweet neighbor Betty Sue, and the excitement of what she wanted to do for the first time. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Your best yet. Enthusiasm should come first as you mention. President Biden should read this! His speeches are monotone. I like the paragraph about developing a personal need...to contribute to the group's success. AS Hilary said: "It takes a village..."

Yes, Bill leadership take enthusiasm and a belief in what he or she is promoting. It also takes a lot of energy and effort. I very much liked this. Ulla:)))

How true Bill. Unless a leader shows enthusiasm and inspires his/her team, any task becomes a chore. This has been a great series on leadership. One that shows the necessary and good attributes for a good leader, but also for those who are not leading a group or a task, to look at their own personality traits that in some small way may need adjustment.
Best wishes,
Mary

Hi Bill,
I can see you have addressed these traits with great enthusiasm and I agree the later is essential.
Cleverly crafted and well researched.
A fine achievement.
Blessings
Shirley

Thank you for sharing all these leadership qualities in the mnemonic JJ DID TIE BUCKLE. I wonder if some of these would be different for today's generation? I found that all of these qualities also applied to parenting and teaching as well.

If the concept of responsibility was a thing, then all of these would feed that notion.

If I have no compelling reason to get out of bed, why not just lay there all day. If I am not hungry, what reason do I have to eat? I f I do not care about my physical health why should I do anything to promote my physical well being? If I have no reason to live, why not just allow myself to die, or even just take my own life. Motivation drives our every positive action. Without the proper amount of motivation, life ends on a sad and bitter note.

There is a point, I feel, that our lives become less important to us personally, but important for others. We then drive our motivation in that direction.

I agree. My bigger point, I hope, is that without motivation, life becomes meaningless.

Yes, enthusiasm can inspire others, like a coach inspiring his team. Sometimes people just naturally have that drive that makes them show enthusiasm. I think I've seen people who try to fake it. As you mention, those incentives like a winning season, promotions, etc. help generate enthusiasm. Motivation helps. Great work with this series. judi

Enthusiasm is a motivator and a quality we hope for in a leader, The problem is there aren't many of the mood types that are totally enthusiastic 100 percent of the time. Some motivational speakers seem to be able to fake it long enough to get a crown stired up, but they probably go home and kick the dog an yell at their wife. I've never had any one I've worked for keep up the enthusiasm much longer than it take to make a 15 minute speach. It might be one of the harder traits to find. It would definitly be more likely in a extraverted personality type. Just my thoughts. Maybe plagmatic and melocholy personality types don't make the best leaders.

I think, like all the traits, if it isn't a natural gift, it needs to be developed and strengthened to be as effective as one can be.
