Well...I actually always liked Lawrence Welk, since he reminded me of two grandparents. Guess I went a different direction in late high school, though. We like to think our ancestors were his neighbors, since some of them also came from Alsace-Lorraine. Favorite lines: Jump-sheep, jump-a record-is near at hand
Clear-the fence-to nourish-on verdant land.
As-I stay-steadfastly-asleep on hay
Which-was the-reason-I counted any way.
'Course, we had sheep once upon a time, too, so this seemed funnier to me.

You light up my life, as sung by the Lennon Sisters. But the tenors bothered me immensely. For what would an Irishman be doing on a polka show.

I have to give you a six for this
even though it brought back horrible memories. We also had to watch it, and what made it worse were my cousins. When in my uncle's car, they would sing or hum some of Welk's songs from the Saturday before as they rocked back and forth!
A clever post, even if I may have nightmares of a 1-and a 2 and a 3!
Best wishes
Mary

Wait til I rise from the floor after fainting. You are very kind with your rating of six stars or your empathy of horrors we shared

First, let me comment on the writing. The format is a little unusual for a poem, but it works. The flow of thought and rhymes also work well. A light-heartedness emerges for a fun message. The writing is very good.

Those of us of a certain age did grow up listening to the polka king, I did prefer to sing along with Mitch Miller better. Terry.

Yes, Mitch was act two of Saturday nights. The structure looked better when shown in columns but this app did not allow me to show it that way, but if you look before the first dash is one syllable, the second, two, the third three, etc.

I remember this Saturday night torture (and the Lucky Strike Hit Parade.) I wish I could see it in columns (or on sheet music.) I live how you include us in your process.

Well, just seeing Lawrence Welk's picture pop up almost made me run. It's Saturday, and every Saturday night for most of my early life I had to watch him, the Lennon Sisters, and Joe Feeney before Disney came on. And then, they moved Disney to Sunday nights. LOL. Thanks for sharing . . . and taking me back.

This was interesting, as well as well written rich in Theme and Imagery.
It also, read well and Flowed well with no Grammar Issues.

I watched Lawrence Welk years ago but I've found a new use for his show lately when I can sleep. I say "Hey Alexa, Play Lawrence Welk" I helps put me to sleep. I have a problem envisioning these columns you refer too, but I'm sure it must have beeen a clever idea.

FS has areas that could be improved. One the requirement for 150 characters in commenting. Activating a tab bar on posting works.
Thanks for taking time to read this.

Mom was old, I was young, like early teens. It was polka music, dancers, a featured tenor, the Lennon sisters. I'd likely like it now.
