That was lovely, Janet, as lovely as the flowers in the picture. It's now that we start looking towards Easter and the meaning of it. Your poem does that superbly, and I enjoyed every line. Well done and good luck in the contest, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

This is a very beautiful rhyming poem you have penned with a very good message. This time of the year is so special! You used very beautiful imagery with the picture of the lenten rose. And yes! He is risen forever!!! Best wishes in the contest. love and blessings, Teri

Hi Janet.
This is a smoothly metered poem of unforced abab rhyme that is bathed in purple, the color of Lent.
It retells the scene in the Garden of Gethsemane right before Jesus was betrayed to death. It also reminds us to try not to be like the apostles.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Good luck in the contest.

That's a good one, Janet. A very nice reference to Christ's wrestling match on Gethsemane. I guess we are going to be competitors in this one.

What a lovely poem, Janet. The pretty little flower used to decorate my stoop when we lived in Las Vegas. I was told it was a desert rose. Jesus suffered great pain and heartache to save us from the firey pit. Well done dear. Nancy:)

Thank you Nancy for this thoughtful and encouraging review. I think this flower does have different names depending on where it grows.

Aw, this is so beautiful, dear poetess. I have never heard of this rose! How could that be? A lovely offering in rhyming form as we anticipate Easter.
Typo: [Father's] will.
Love and blessings always,

Thank you Sal for this thoughtful and encouraging review and for the kind correction. I always seem to miss at least one punctuation - thankfully there are kind people like you.

In Tennessee, we have Dogwood trees, and their white blossoms have a drop of red in the center. A drop of His blood. What a wonderfully written poem.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

A beautiful poem which speaks of the rebirth of spirit, hope and all that is around us.
We must never forget that there is and can be a rebirth.
Each year, the beauty of Spring reminds us.

A very accomplished rhyming poem, Janet, and an absolutely beautiful illustration, which I assume are lenten roses- I never knew. Your background colour is also well chosen. Good luck in the contest,
