This was a wonderful and educational post. I did not know that they weren't actual bears. I did know about the pouch and the toxins in the leaves. (Thank you, Steve Irwin) I like that you stressed about how they ate wild animals and not to be handled. This was a very well written piece from the unique perspective of the Koala itself. Gretchen

I was unaware that koalas are nocturnal. I did know they received water from the eucalyptus leaves. I feel so bad about them losing their habitat. I hope they are able to survive. The only zoo I have seen them in is the Riverbanks zoo in South Carolina and fortunately, it is viewing only. Your article told me many things about this interesting and beautiful mammal that I did not know about.

    Thank you very much Mermaids. I enjoyed your thoughtful review. I am glad it is viewing alone, so the animals can live without stress. They are beautiful and unique.

Your article about the things you've experienced and the history of your species is most informative and wonderful, I did know some of the things like, rare drinkers of water, only certain species of eucalypt, and being isolate. Nocturnal, I have seen the odd koala wandering around in broad daylight. Beautifully written Wendy, blessings Roy

Thanks for all the information about koalas. A lot I didn't know, like killing them to make coats! I didn't know they were solitary animals. That explains why I've never seen a photo of bunch. Feeding the joey her droppings may sound disgusting to us, but isn't Nature wonderful, providing what each creature needs!

Thank you for sharing the amazing koalas with us. I find them fascinating and so did my first graders. Each year toward the end of first grade, they were required to do research projects, with help, and many would choose the Koalas. I enjoyed reading.

This is an excellent wildlife story. I learned so much I didn't know about the Koala. It is shame they are loosing the trees they need to survive. Nature is amazing. This should be in the wildlife contest but I don't see it listed as being in it;

    Thank you very much. So glad you enjoyed if. I already posted one for the contest "Only in Australia" which was mostly about kangaroos and a few reviewers asked why I didn?t mention koalas so this is a follow up piece to that one. Thank you again.

Perhaps this is what they call faction. Facts told in a fictional way. However it is described I thought it a truly excellent article. It was so readable, like an interesting little story, I bet there are loads of urban bred Australians who would benefit from reading this as well as ignorant poms like me.

What an excellent informal story about the koala. You have explained it so well that I now understand more about what the koala really does in its life. They are cute but like your story, says they require privacy and being alone. Thank you for sharing this information with us. Patricia.

I really learned a great deal about your thorough, well developed article about koalas. (But don't test me - that's a lot of information!). The one thing that surprised me most is that they are not bears. They appear so cuddly, I'm surprised there's so little romance in their lives.

Wendy,

This is a well written wildlife story about Koalas. Your story perfectly incorporates cuteness with facts as inspired and told by the koala. Its always a beautiful thing when the writer knows the subject intimately and can speak to the subject accurately. Thank you for sharing the story of Koalas. Good Day mate.

All the best,

Eugene
