Graham, Welcome to FanStory; I hope your experience is both fun and worthwhile.

I think you have written an interesting story with a good message for your readers. The letter from God was short, but you recognized it for what it was and acted upon it.

Since the purpose of FS is to help with the writing, I have a few suggestions. And they are not about the writing per se, and you do have a talent for writing. My suggestions are more about the presentation.

At the top of the story, you have it listed as General Fiction. I believe you may want to change that to Nonfiction, maybe Biographical.

A well-regarded writer on-site is Jay Squires (last year's Writer of the Year). Jay advises writers to avoid the "Wall of Words." What he means by that is when a reader looks at the story, all the reader sees is a wall of words...no paragraphs, no breaks, literally no chance for the reader to "Catch their breath." So, consider breaking up the story into shorter paragraphs and double space between them.

I would also suggest you use Advanced Editor to write the story. You can choose a larger size font, maybe a 16. It will make your stories easier to read. Your readers on FS will appreciate the larger font. You can also add B (Bold) or experiment with other fonts and styles till you find some you like.

Consider adding a picture to the story. It helps illustrate the story. You can use FanArt or one from your computer or from the net.

Several folks on the site are sticklers for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and the like. Spell check will help with some of that.

Thank you for entering the contest. My suggestions are only suggestions and food for thought for the presentation. Your writing is good; keep it up. Terry.

Thank you again Terry. I think I sent some comment earlier.
You mention using Advance Editor. I am not familiar with that. Are you suggesting that I can still modify the letter I sent?
    Thank you Graham

Graham, the contest doesn't close for three days, so, yes you can modify the letter.

When you start a story using the FS template from the drop-down menu (Write), you have basic editor. You have the option to use Advanced Editor, that is better for writing and using different sizes and fonts, and other choices you can experiment with. But be careful if you have already written a story using basic editor. You will lose that work when you switch to Advanced.

Experiment with it on your next story, and see how it works for you.

    Thank You
I am very new to all of Fan Story.
No idea whether I have written it using basic editor, whatever that is.
No idea how to switch to advanced.

Graham, I contacted Tom, he is the administrator of FanStory. He tells me a recent switch gives everybody Advanced Editor by default now, which is good. He also said if you would contact him, he will help you with any issues you need help with.

To contact Tom look for the Community button on the top of the page, and click on it, a box will drop down, and the last box is Contact Us. click on that, and a dialogue box will open where you can type any question. Tom is great about getting back to you. Good luck. Terry.

An interesting piece of writing but made difficult to read by the lack of spell checking. It really interrupted the flow of the writing. Just some examples,

"The Chairman of the Conmmittee", "damge to a Mitral Valve", "
"releasedform...", "hree I was...", "th Lord say to me", "who truly beleive".

Apologies if I have hurt your feelings. I just feel this story deserves a lot more merit but I could not look past the multiple spelling mistakes.

    Apologies accepted.
I think for me I was hoping to let people know that God speaks to us though his written word. To me that is far more important than being overly concerned about minor spelling mistakes.
