Brilliant, economical writing. Taut use of language and powerful imagery. I like the stony motif that goes almost throughout - maybe it should have just peeped into the third stanza? I'm being picky, this is great. Well done.

Thank you so much i'm really glad you liked it I didn't think about the third stanza as well But I keep thinking I don't know what this feels right like it is. Hey Lea, our world is clamoring for social justice. I believe we are standing on the precipice and part of the problem I think, is we don't know what the definitions are anymore. Society has changed norms and definitions. For us old folk, these three words Precipice, Injustice, Punishment, used to have a university accepted definition. Today, they might as well be Swahili. L. O. L. Don't grow old Lea.

Hey Lea, our world is clamoring for social justice. I believe we are standing on the precipice and part of the problem I think, is we don't know what the definitions are anymore. Lea, this is a deeply felt verse recording your determination, I think, not to allow yourself to be wholly subjugated to another's will. He won't ever take everything from you though he may think he has the right. Your soul is somewhere else. Take care Debbie

Perhaps I am reading into this....but, this appears to be a very sad piece...

You have used metaphors very effectively, preparing the reader for the real message. Everything alluded to is twained with nature. This helps you connected with nature for healing & cleansing so the last line is made real that that body will never be you.

I see a heart, soul and body which have been taken by force. While the perpetrator may have used and abused the victim, he has not been able to take the soul, the inner person, which remains intact. Well done.
