Very funny JLR. I do not miss daylight savings at all since moving to Queensland. A lovely tongue in cheek poem that made me laugh. Good meter and gave the reader interesting points on which to reflect. Jacqueline

I'm always grateful for Fall when we get that extra hour but the Daylight Saving Time comes in the Spring and we loose that hour. Seems silly to me but it is what it is and we will adjust.
Great rhyming poem and quite "timely ". Haha.

Blessings
Janet

I enjoyed your use of rhyme and meter. It keeps the poem light and fun. The subject matter is something we can all relate to, especially the part of slowing time down. That was the part that touched me and made it all come together. Great image. It goes so well with your poem. Best of luck!

I agree! And I am a night owl so taking away an hour of sleep in the spring will guarantee my being groggy for a week! But I find "falling back" where I gain an hour is relatively okay. Best wishes in the contest!

That's so true, when we were young we wanted our days to speed up, couldn't wait for Christmas/birthdays, but now that I've got my wish, I can't slow it down, sigh! Beautifully written Jim, a wonderfully insightful post, good luck, blessings Roy
Typo : walking is (straighforward) straight forward?

Moving the clocks back and forth is just plain silly. Why not leave it be?
Thank you for this humorous look at our man-made practice of changing the clocks and time in general. I made me smile.
Excellent meter and rhyme add to the enjoyment of your theme.

What a wonderful poem for the contest. Indeed the older we get we want the time to slow down. But the opposite seems to be happening. It just goes faster and faster. It's unfair. Lol, Ulla:)))

This poem, Daylight Savings Time, presented with four ABAB-rhymed quatrains, seems to light a fire under the new-again argument of ending daylight savings time. Aw, c'mon. It's kinda fun.

It is true that time is always a source of anxiety. When you're young you want the years to pass; As you grow older, you want them to slow down! I don't know why we hope for eternity because there all time will be eternally present and therefore irredeemable!
